How does it feel? WOW!

The car only revs up to 2K for LC and it takes off with a little wheel spin. Once you get to redline in 1st the shift into 2nd feels like you just hit the nitrous switch. I'd def feels faster compared to just mashing the gas pedal no question. No initial lag and that shift into 2nd just rockets the car forward.

Alan
So are you saying with the brakes mashed and the gas pedal floored it only revs to 2000 rpm? Seems fitting since all the torque starts at 1500

Correct. I had the gas pedal to the floor and launch control limits the revs to 2K. The car took off the a rocket and I swear it felt faster than just flooring it off the line.

Alan, I feel the same way, and its not barely, its much more noticeable. I really want to know what happens when you use LC over just flooring. How the hell can we get info, Im really not likeing this about this car. Everything is a mystery. I want black and white. Really annoyed actually.

Tried it with my 2014 535xd and I agree with the previous comments, WOW. With the diesel, the brake and accelerator pedals down, the car holds at about 3,000rpm until you release the brakes, then it just launches, no wheel spin at all (x-drive). So that is what 400+ lb-ft feels like when you full advantage of it. Can't see myself using this on the street, but if you have an LCI, you've got to try it on a back road at least once.

Yup seems to shift harder. Need to try a few more times to verify before I put the winter tires on.

I might try launch control to see what it's like but I bought my car and don't want to put unnecessary strain on the drive train. Anyone remember the time interval BMW recommends between launches to allow the drivetrain to cool down? I know, I know,
I can't imagine that they would be accurate.

Alan! Awesome!

What are the avg 0-60 times with the LC for the 2014+ .. I'm assuming 4.3-4.5 . I would not be surprised if this car can do 4 Flat with a proper tune. That should put us at 500hp+ To the crank. And 530tq+ to the crank. (Conservative)

I would love to see COBB come out with some support for the N63.

BMW posts 4.3s 0 - 60 for the 550i xDrive. I'm assuming this was achieved with launch control? Otherwise, I assume they would have taken credit for the fastest time they could achieve with it. Most pros seem to "launch" the cars by bringing the RPMs up into the desired powerband, regardless... so this feature seems to simply automate what a skilled driver would otherwise attempt to do... and make it very repeatable!

Not sure if the BMW numbers we with launch Control but. I'll tell you this. When you floor it from a stop vs using launch Control. Car accelerates much faster and shifts much harder if you use launch Control.
My car chirps third gear when I start off in lunch control. If doesn't when I just floor it from a stop.

I found this the other day.
http://www.automobile-catalog.com/pe...0i_xdrive.html
They are claiming 0-60 in 4.0 with the quarter in 12.5. I don't doubt it for a second. There is also this clip that I found on youtube of a 550 racing a e92 M3.
. First 1/4 was 12.79.

I think you're right and he claims a 1/4 in 12.1 on the youtube site. I still think in stock form in a straight line the 550 with the TTV8 would take a stock e9x M. There is no substitute for our displacement and torque. Head to head on a track is another story.

BTW when are you picking up your car?

Thats badblack550xi's car and it is running the bms tune plus race gas.

Taking an E9X M isn't even breaking a sweat with the 550 especially the 2014's with the 445hp 480tq motor. Several people already verified it on this forum.
