Worst day ever

Last night i was hit by a car....I was T boned...I never thought i would be in this position....

This was my first incident and it is too sad that it has to be in my BMW.

I need some advice from you folks ....i am not sure if it will be a total loss or it will be repairable.

Is there any thing that i should check or make sure wrt to the damage? both the curtain air bags on driver side have been deployed

if those insurance folks say it has to be repaired ... any good collision centers specialized in BMW in NJ and PA?

Thanks in advance.....

First thing is you are alright.

Looks to me there could be frame damage, esp when the car is t-boned like that. I would put it at around $10K minimum to fix.

Since you live in NJ, there is a good shop I can recommand. All the BMW dealers in bergen county and Benz are partner with this shop. They fix high quality cars like Lamb. and Ferrari etc. Prestige auto shop in Fort Lee. 69 Main St. Fort Lee NJ 07024. 201-944-0101. I always fix my car here. High quality work and paint. Good Luck.

If your car is leased, I would contact the dealer and see if they would have the car repaired thru the dealer. Less problems at the end of the lease.

Research "diminished value" in your state and see if you can get compensated for the loss of value in your car if it isn't totaled. Obviously your car won't be worth as much after the accident, no matter how well it is repaired.

I'm sorry to hear about your accident. We're all glad you're okay and in one piece.

As for your loss, it depends what insurance you have. A while back, my X5 got into a head-on collision. To repair the SUV was 29k and the value of my SUV was 35k. The adjustor told me the repairs has to be greater than 75% of the value to be considered total loss.
Looking at the pictures... the looks to be around 25k

You're really better off totalling that car. Id be surprised if the insurance doesnt offer it. Good news is you're ok.

It doesn't look totalled to me. I know mine wasn't totalled and looked much worse than that. I guess its all up to if the chassis would be OK or NOT.

Glad you're alive and not hurt dude! The rest you'll fix

Good thing you are ok! Even if it sucks, it's just a car and they can be replaced.

First, glad to see you are ok. Second, its a car, and be glad that you were in the BMW, because judging by the location and intensity of the impact, that car likely saved you from being badly hurt. This is the reason why we pay for these cars. They are tanks! The car did its job and protected you.

Forget stressing over this diminished value stuff, get it repaired and you wont even know this happened once the job is done

Good luck!

My money is on total loss - unibody damage is tricky.

Glad you're okay. Definately look into diminisehd value for the loss in value due to the damage caused. It most surely at best will show up on a carfax especially if the police report was filed and it was towed and thus will likely show up at a later date when you try to sell the car or trade it. That will result in a lower offer for you most likely. As for total loss it depends probably on if you have frame damage or note....they won't know till they get it taken apart likely. Good luck.

Doesnt look too bad. Glad youre good. If there isnt unibody damage, find a shop that can provide that damage for you..in order for it to be totaled.

Did you purchase or lease? If leased have your dealer's body shop perform the repair and work with your salesperson for an early trade; very clean-cut, getting you into a brand-new auto ASAP. If purchased, hoping your insurance company deems your car totaled may not be best, as you may need to cough up additional money of your own for a replacement.

Just watch out for body shops. They often underreport the initial damage so the insurance company agrees to repair. After that, it's a blank check for the body shop to fix the car when it encounters hidden damage.
