Any way to make car start in sport mode?

I noticed that the car will start in the last setting before shutdown as long as it isn't sport mode. For some reason, if you shut down in sport mode it will default to comfort upon the next start up. Anyone know if this can be changed to have the car always start in the previous setting, even if that setting is sport?

On cars with DHP (I'm assuming others as well) sport and sport+ mode are always reset on shutdown, comfort and normal will "survive" shutdown/restart.

Intentional design, most likely on BMW legal department advice. Always making sure responsibility is put on owners selecting "more aggressive" mode that can potentially lead to trouble. I was wondering the same, but if you think about it, it actually makes sense.

The car will only remember the following 2 modes after shutdown.
Comfort or Comfort+ mode (equivalent to normal and comfort in some older versions)

The car can be coded to always start in Eco Mode, but there is no coding available to start in Sport or Sport+mode

It has to do with fuel efficiency, not an issue of the car being left in a more aggressive setting that could get you into trouble.

Yes, you can get it coded to start in Sport (and I think Sport+).
I have a local guy who does coding and that's one of his options. I just haven't been able to get down to see him yet.

Why would you want it to start in sport?

I always allow the engine to warm through before switching into sport mode, revs are too high in sport for a cold engine imo

If your guy can do this he will be a rich man. I was told by one of the best coders that it wasn't possible.

It's on his list that he can do it. He stays busy with this as his side job.

I would want this as I keep my sport mode only for suspension, and sport + for extra power. Most of the time, I want sport handling and I have to switch into that mode manually.

Or... thank them, I don't know.

Try sport+ in wet conditions with RWD, then tell me you want that to be your default mode on a rainy day when you just didn't remember you left it there night before Sport, sure, sport+, not so sure.

I have my sport mode set only for steering/chassis adjustments and not transmission.

I would double check with the guy. If a F1x series car could be coded to always start in Sport or Sport+mode - then you have hit the holy grail.

Loads of money to be made and thousands of car owners will pay money to get this feature coded.

I have coded over a 100 cars; have spoken to all the top coders in US, Germany, UK; and enabling this code is still not possible.

I hope I am proven wrong; would love it to make this work on a F10 - so could you please double check with your guy and post more details please.

Turning the shifter to the left is sport mode as well. Just leave it in that position.

It's not a question of laziness... or I'd drive an Automatic. It's a question of having technology cooperating or controlling us... and likely over-reaching CAFE and EPA regulations as well.

Pity.

As you might know their is a small motor that push back the shifter to its center position when you turn off the car.

I'm there. I would like it to start the car as soon as it knows I am leaving my house and headed in the general direction of the car with the keys in my pocket. .....oh.. and of course have the Sport enabled. :-)
