Anyway, not sure what your intentions were on the BS statement but ...

I live in Germany and am able to buy BMW's under the US Diplomatic program which basically allows me to buy a US spec BMW and have it delivered to me here in Germany. Without going into all the specifics its a pretty good deal.

Living in Germany the F10 is already out in full effect but my car still waits, why ... because I am held to the BMWNA process. With that is the 06-19-10 release date that keeps my car sitting in distribution not too far down the road from me. Anyway, when I read that a few folks were getting their F10 prior to 06-19-10 I inquired about getting mine and they told me a host of reasons why they cannot do it. The one that didnt penalized the dealer so much but seemed a major concern to me as a customer is the issue of the warranty date being electronically recorded to Munich upon date of sale and it being prior to the release date.

I don't care what you do with the information, you can stick it in your pipe and smoke for all I care, however, I will do what I expect anyone to do that has some knowledge and that is share it. I simply think its prudent for a person who spent a good lump of change to be excited but also be aware.

All I know is that the VPC in California delivered my vehicle to the dealer. And the dealer sold it to me. That's exactly what's going to happen to those others on the East Coast. The cars were released *by BMW*. If they wanted us to wait until the release date, they would have held the cars at the VPC. They have no excuse, it was obvious my car was a customer order. It's clear that within BMW there are some who believe that the cars shouldn't be delivered before the 6/19 date. And there are others doing their job which is delivering cars as soon as possible. Imagine that, different people in a big company having different ideas about how to do things.

Sounds like your German Dealer is just trying to keep you on Ice because they cant get you a car. Using the 6/19 date as reason.

I don't think an arbitrary date that really has no significance would materially impact warranty coverage. The warranty period is based on relative in-service date, and Mileage, not an absolute point in time.

My dealer doesn't have an MSO yet, so delivery is on hold for now.

BMW may still be playing games, or at least not moving very quickly.

BOOO!!!

Sorry my CA sent them to me from his iPhone.

So much for "Enclosed Transport". At least it was a nice day, so no road crap was splashed up on to the lower deck of this hauler.

I'm saying the information you were given sounds like BS, I was not questioning your credibility.

I agree...if BMW NA didn't want consumers driving their new F10's before June 19, they wouldn't have released them from the VPC, and they would have informed the dealers, in writing, not to release the vehicles.

My father picked up his F10 550i tonight. Pics in this thread:

(Sorry, didn't mean to thread jack.)

I guess when you sit close to the teachers desk (Munich) you are made to follow silly German control rules. If I was in the back of the class (USA) I would be rocking by now.

Funny thing is there are several of us here waiting and the cars are being held at DINGLEBERRY and because 06-19-10 is a Saturday they were going to make us wait until 06-21-10 Monday, they just contacted me and said they are going to deliver the cars on 06-19-10.

If it wasnt for the break in period I would light em up across the parking lot once I got the keys!

I pushed, and they got my MSO.

I'm on my way to the dealer, and won't leave without my F10 today.
