Rear Sway Bar questions...

Hello!!!! My name is Charles. I'm new to the BMW world and have had my 2014 528i for about a year now. The mod bug has bitten me!!!! I recently acquired the M5 Competition Sway Bars and dove into the install this weekend.

Front =PN 31357850119
Rear = PN 33557850120

Front went on without a hitch. Once finished I moved on to the rear and "BAM" I was shocked with it's anemia but at least it came off easily. When I went to line up the 2 units it seems to me that the 2 bars do not line up properly. I figured it might work if I rotated the rubber bushings 180 Degrees but they were stuck and not wanting to move. It was getting dark and cold so I reinstalled the stock pencil thin rear sway bar and began researching. My study leads me to believe that the rear Comp. Package bar will not bolt into my F10. Am I correct or am I missing something? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Rear M5 bars do not bolt on to other F10s.

I think the largest BMW-sourced bar is the 650i bar. IMO, I would get an H&R or Eibach rear bar. IMO, the 650i bar is not thick enough for good front/rear balance when paired with an upgraded front bar.

Thanks for the response. My searches have lead me to what you stated.
The Competition Bars diameter is 26mm on center area, side area is 30mm. This bars front center area is much short than standard M5.
The rear CP bars diameter is 21mm on center area, side area is 23mm.
I would like to get a rear bar that fits but also is closer to these dimensions. Guess the rear CP Bar is going up for sale....

The 20mm H&R or Eibach may be your easiest/best bet.

I jsut installed my H&R rear sways.

I must say the back is more lifted after install, it was done wrong i am sure.

Does anyone have any pics of their sways installed? Wanted to see how it went in.

Also did anyone remove the counter weights? I took my one off, is that ok?

They make no difference in ride height. Someone else posted about their rear being jacked up and rock hard (no suspension compliance) and they were installed incorrectly by their shop. (If memory serves correct)

There are threads with pics of an M5 front/650i rear install (not H&R or Eibach specific) around, don't have time to search right now. I believe I've even got some follow up comments with tips and tricks to DIY.

Counter weights? I've swapped bars around myself in my driveway about 5 times and I don't know what you're referring to.

Mine weren't like that.

And didn't have those big black things on them.

Are we sure that the vehicle in question doesn't have ARS or something? You can't retrofit bars onto an ARS-equipped car. Probably ditto for air-ride suspension options that might be out there.

Thanks for the reply...

Yeah the bar was installed wrong, it is suppose to curve over the rear (Tie rod) i think - it is not, so it is hitting it. And not letting the suspension come lower etc.. I will be taking it in tmmrw to update.

Anyone uninstall those weights? Heard they were there only for noise reduction. I removed my weights, but i have to fix a few issues before i confirm any diff.
