Hi,

Just wanted to introduce myself from the UK..been lurking on here for a few months. My new 520d SE should be arriving next week. It's base spec unfortunately as it will be a company car and they do not allow us to add options

I had a choice of black or Titanium Silver. I have gone for Titanium Silver with Black on Black interior.

Just hope it is a 2012 model. Have no idea of the build date or when the order was actually placed....any ideas what my chances are?

Hi there... I'm very new here myself, but welcome and congrats on the car.

Picking up my 520d SE in a couple of days (Thurs).

The 2012 cars seem to be from 5th September production date onwards. As yours is arriving next week (is that arrival in the country, or the dealer do you know?) it seems quite probable that yours will have been made after that date and be the new spec...

The changes for 2012 are an Eco Pro Drive switch to optimise economy (don't really know too much about what it does in practice - I'll post that after Thurs!), engine stop/start on automatic cars (manual cars already had it) and a GSM based Real Time Traffic Information service for navigation (maybe only Pro Nav?).

Look forward to seeing the photos when yours arrives!

The date is delivery to me, so it should be in the country now. It is being leased through Alphabet.

Fingers crossed on the 2012..they have lower CO2 output and I like the idea of being able to sharpen up the throttle response :-)

will post pics once it arrives, I am currently in a loaned e90 touring so will post a few comparisons etc.

You reminded me to ring the dealer today and confirm for certain that mine is a 2012 model, now that the valet team is working on it and they can see the switches.

I'm glad to report that it is!

I registered for BMW Connect Drive on the BMW UK website a few days ago, but still haven't received a reply. Presumably this will affect the operation of the navigation RTTI, internet and other BMW assist features (including the remote operation/viewing of many of the car features on an iPhone) until the password is sent through? Can anyone comment how long this normally takes please?

Just got my delivery date... This Friday

. Looking forward to it. It's a big change from previous cars though. Will be a bit slow but nice:

Civic type-r championship white
Astra VXR
Civic type-r premier edition
BMW 330ci Clubsport
Civic Type-r

Not long now then!

I think you'll find it almost meaningless to compare the new 520d with your previous cars, as the ride, handling and general feeling of comparative luxury make it so different.

What it lacks in "nippiness" is more than compensated (IMHO) by the feeling of effortless cruising, spaciousness, comfort and elegance. (By the way, did I say that I like mine very much!?

)

Have you confirmed the 2012 build now? With your delivery date, it sounds almost certain...

Great! Just one more sleep...

I'm really pleased with mine: a week old today. No issues with steering pull, jerky transmission or any of the things that have been discussed at length here and that worried me before pick-up.
