CIC/Entertainment panel wierdness

Picked up my new car today (yay). I've got a question, hope you can help.

I've an iPod plugged in.

If I have the nav screen split with map and entertainment the panel shows me the track I'm listening to. If you change track with the buttons on the stereo itself, all is good. If you change the track with the scrolly wheel on the steering wheel, the panel doesn't update itself and still shows the text of the previous track.

Is it just me? Just upgraded the system over the air to the latest and it still does it.

I haven't noticed that but I have noticed this: I've had the iPod in the car for quite a while and as you selecte tracks with the scrolly wheel you see the tracks changing on the dash, near the rev-counter. You select by pushing and the track plays.

I then added some tracks to the iPod - the new tracks appear when controlling from the iDrive controller but don't appear on the scrolly wheel thing. A few days later they did.

Weird.

I'm also missing the ability to skip to the next track from the steering wheel (which I had on the 335d). That list is in order, I like to play my playlists in random ... so the only way to get to the next random track is via the main stereo.

I tend to do that anyway - give the iDrive knob a bang with my fist to skip a track - quite theraputic when some of the wife's shite comes on

Haven't tried the scrolly wheel on random but I imagine it works as you say because it seems to be stored separately and just updates now and then. You'll notice the list still appears with the iPod disconnected.

No mute on the steering wheel either.

Not quite sure how it has twice as many buttons on the wheel as my 335 yet seems to do half as much

THAT'S how you skip to next random track?? I've been reaching over to the |> arrow above number 8 since I got this car and have found it the single most irritating thing for the redesigned wheel over the E60 model. Do people use the cruise control so much that it got its own side of the steering wheel vs staying on the column stalk?

I think that only works if you have the music screen selected on the iDrive with the next track button highlighted. I tend to drive around with the maps showing, so it's reaching down for the ">" button for me.

I think I need to clean up my iPod playlists, I'm spending half my drive skipping tracks I don't want to listen to ...

I have had the same issue and I think I've sorted it when I first connected my 7th gen nano u could only get the current song on the on the scroll wheel. I had random off on the nano but on the idrive.

This morning I went to search for a song and in the search options I selected all on every option then played a song and deselected random on the idrive ans bingo I can now see all the songs on the scroll wheel.

Give it a try
