Connected Drive / Assist Functionality.

Hi All,

My Dad recently got an F10 (530D) and I working through the connected drive stuff.

Iphone App Activation.
Covered in detail in other threads, only comment here is that Dad's account was created on Wednesday afternoon and the iphone app only just started working this evening Friday. So rather than the published 24 hours it took about 2 days to become fully active. There also appears to be quite a delay between commands being sent and getting a response but it does work.

Send to Car

I had read in some places that you could only send to the car from the BMW assist portal. I have found that's not actually the case.

If you know the user name of the person / car you are sending too you can send it from any PC using google maps.

There are few quriks, I got it work work from the uk specific google site, apparently its only enabled in certain territories. i.e don't use google.com but your country specific site. In our case google.co.uk

It also looks like the send to car option is not currently available from the ipad / iphone. From looking at some of the posts it did work in the past

This is how you do it.

Find a location in google maps

eg

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&so...ngdom&t=h&z=14

Click on the red pin with the A in it.

Click More

Click Send

Comes up with a new dialogue

Click car

Select BMW

Put in the assist account name and hit send and it works! ;-)

You can also notes and phone numbers in, so in a bit of clunky way you can send mails and numbers to the car too not just locations.

It arrives in the messages section in the car.

Some more info on the send to car.

Driver Profiles

Will try this again tomorrow.
Please see attachment from BMW customer services, for more details, basically it appears you can upload the profiles from the car and then edit them online and then send them back to the car!

Will post when I get this actually working.
On Wednesday I did mange to send one profile from the car but it never arrived in the connected drive portal. Now the account is fully active will try again.

Has any one got this working?

Cheers
Paul
