Ashtray lid won't stay closed -520D MT

The latch on the ashtray lid in front of the gearlever seems to have failed. Anyone else experience this? Mild annoyance on an otherwise great car.

It looks like it could be a pain to fix!

Shouldn't this be fixed under warranty?

Have you ever placed any small coins in there? If so they could be trapped underneath, and has been mentioned on here before, just do a search.

Good news !
Did they take the whole ashtray out ? If I understand correctly you have MT with ashtray right on the front of the gearbox. Did you have the non smoking package ?

The whole centre tunnel cover had to come off. Alot of hassle for such a small issue.

my 550 had the same issue. I had it replaced under warranty. If I remember correctly it was like $130
