Maintenance History

A new member here and am overwhelmed at the trove of information available. I have owned a M550 F10 for several years and about to buy an F10 M5. We have had a really good experience with our current 5 series, knock on wood, which has inspired me to look for a newer f10 M5 which I am about to buy. I'd like to know more about the maintenance history other than what CARFAX shows. If you know of a resource I can use paid or free or can directly help please reply here or DM me. Thank you in advance.

If you are in good standing with your dealership SA, they will usually let you have a look at what they have.
Stipulations; You need the VIN. This will only show work performed at a BMW dealership.
Up side of that is, it doesn't matter which dealership they took it to, it will show up.

Other than that I don't know.

Ditto wcr3d in regards to your local BMW dealership. If you find a car you're interested in buying...and especially if you pay for a PPI (pre-purchase inspection or post-purchase inspection)...they can run the car's service history.

Now the problem...they are not supposed to show you this info because it contains personal information from the previous owner. As stated, you may get a good SA that will understand and already redact this personal info and show you the history...but some hem & haw about it. If they do, then ask nicely that the redact any personal information...because you're only interested in the car's service history...what has been done, and what may be looming in the next few years of your ownership.

Good luck. Below you can see a copy of the service history of a 99 540iT I purchased from a private seller in Cincinnati OH. I took the car to Jake Sweeney BMW to have a PPI done...and I asked for its service history. They were kind enough to comply and redacted the previous owners info. You can see on the history where BMW's personnel is reminded not to share this info:

I'll ask my wife to reach out since she works with her the most and the lady to lady leverage might work more than me, the bill payer, trying to solicit her.

I've literally paid a 3400 service bill from Bagram Afghanistan but she prolly wouldn't know me from Adam
