[HELP] Steering column error???
Hi all, I have a 2010 F11 520d with 120k miles. I just replaced the car battery. I have the following problems/symptoms:
- Sometimes the wiper does not stop working - Driving Stabilisation Failure! message - Most of the functions of my steering wheel are not working. Front wiper and turn signal is working, but everything else is not working I tried clearing the codes using my Creator C420 OBD reader but the DSC error stays on all the time. Battery was renewed a few weeks when I started to see the wiper not stopping. OBD Scanner shows: - 48260F ICM Steering Initialization Required - D02D06 Interface SZL (Actual Steering Angle) Signal Invalid - D014DC Interface SZL (Actual Steering Angle) Signal Invalid - 80340D Steering Angle Sensor: Not Adjusted - 020200 SZL Transport Mode Active - C9841F SZL FlexRay Line Fault - C98C00 LIN Bus Multifunction Steering Wheel Checksum Error - D51A53 Signal Actual Value of Front Axle Steering Angle Invalid Transmitter ICM - D51A62 Signal Centre of Gravity Lateral Acceleration Invalid Transmitter ICM - E58507 Integrated Chassis Management Trasmitter Interface Signal Invalid - C90C96 Electrochromatic Interrior Mirror Internal Fault Would anyone hazard a guess on what the route cause is? Do you think most of these codes will be resolved if I bought a steering column switch? If I replaced the steering column, does it need to be professionally coded in? Any help will be much appreciated! |

1st, take your vehicle out of transport mode. Easy to do in ISTA, not sure how to do it with your tool.
2nd, clear codes 3rd, perform SZL calibration assuming your SZL is not broken Feel free to post remaining error codes after performing steps 1, 2 & 3 above. |

Hi M_Bimmer reporting back that I was able to remove the transport mode but I wasn't able to do any SZL calibration as the Autel tool (my local mechanic had one) shows the SZL as not responding. So clearing every code didn't help as the DSC error came back instantly and my mechanic thinks I have a faulty steering column.
Do you know whether I can do the SZL code read in (read existing code), code in (into the new SZL), and SZL calibration with just ISTA+? I have an old E-Sys on my laptop but it has an expired license so I only have ISTA+ installed. Someone else suggested I use Bimmer Utility? |
