20" setup on 550i! HELP PLEASE!!!
Good afternoon! I just bought a 2012 550i (rwd). it came with 19's. 245 front, 275 rear. I have 2 important questions...what are the OEM offsets, and, with a 8.5" front 245/35/20...10" rear 285/30/20 setup, what are a good safe set of offsets that are safe to shoot for that are more aggressive than stock, but not so aggressive that the brand of 285 tire I buy may cause rubbing. I want 0 rubbing issues!. BTW im sure this topic is played out, but this is my FIRST DAY on this forum and I wasn't having any luck with the search feature. Thank you all so much for your help!

Here is an example of our recommended setup:
VMR V710 20x9 ET35 255/35/20 20x10 ET35 285/30/20 * Sits flush with the fender, however, does not cause any rubbing/fitment issues on stock and mildly lowered suspensions. No modification required, true plug-n-play setup

Hi and welcome!
Have a look at this site, for example OEM 20" rims with offsets: http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...69&hg=36&fg=15 step back to "WHEELS" and you see the OEM tires section etc. http://realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?mo...57&hg=36&fg=30 The factory wheel parameters are F 8.5X20 ET:33 R 9X20 ET:44 but quite none of the forum members keep it also with stock runflat tires. Mostly people go for aftermarket wheels and tires, and the most popular tire set is 245/35/20 285/30/20. This one is quite universal because it is wide enough and also has provide ideal match of rolling diameters, making it interesting to buy/trade for both RWD and AWD owners. The offsets is really individual story because of people's different aesthetic taste and also the aftermarket rims/tires are not totally equal. If you buy some expensive wheels (HRE, Morr etc.) they will make the offsets custom. I've got my wheels from Vorsteiner in boxes with no idea about offsets. Then I measured and got F 8.5X20 ET:20 R 9X20 ET:26. With 245-285 tires they make perfect and flush fit and believe me they don't rub at all (see my car's pics in profile). However I wouldn't extrapolate these numbers to other rims/tires, and also if you use stretched tires, you can afford more aggressive offsets. Lowering with sport springs or coilovers can affect affordable offsets, but this is a separate big topic, let's not mess with it right now. And finally, you may like a set of wheels and upgrade it at your wish with a set of spacers. This needs to get the wheels measured to calculate proper thicknesses, the OEM wheel normally allow 10mm front and 15mm rear with no rubbing. |

That is a Perfect Set-Up VMR is stating .... I have the same but ET+37 fronts and notice a difference in the ET+35 that would probably sit perfect. My wheels were limited on offset availability. no rubbing at all with the 285 and 255. Perfect and rides nice still

Front is safe, but please give us some feedback on the rears, ET32 with 285 is pretty aggressive.
