Tossing between two F10, opinions are welcome!
Hi gents,
what would be a better option from coding/tweaking perspective: a Business or Professional navi system? somewhere I've read that for some outputs you really have to have the Pro display. I am currently tossing between two F10 in the company's garage, with other options equal they are: Blue: autodim rear view mirror; lumbar support; electrically adjustable driver/passenger seats with memory option; GPS navi system Grey: sport steering wheel; GPS pro navi system; the rest are standard for 520D, or equal options; so the Blue one is little bit fancier, though lacks the sport steering which I might miss, but the Pro system seems to be corner stone. N.B. while looking at the above I think the Blue has more to offer from usability prospective. your opinions are welcome, thanks. |

Personally I'd go for the Grey one. I aint that bothered about dimming mirrors or electric seats (I only have one driving position).
But the sports steering wheel and pro nav would make me feel better about the "lesser" specc'd one everytime I was sitting there. |

hey mate, this resonates to what I am thinking too, thanks. I also won't change the seat settings frequently. However, I've been told that lumbar support is of a great help, especially for long rides, which I plan to pursue. What do you think? is there any pillow that can substitute that?
Also a colleague keeps telling me that autodim is a great feature, though not sure how often that happens that someone blinds you from behind. I actually drove once a F10 with standard Navi and I didn't like the screen. I think it is a bad taste of BMW to ever equip an executive sedan with such a screen, where they exactly leave space for a bigger screen. One advantage of the Blue one though is that it is newer by 5 months, so more lease to drive out, and with the company going frugal no more 5er's after that. |

Well, I mean it's all personal opinion of course.
Personally, I have never used the lumbar support in any of my vehicles in 17 years. Never needed it. I have done some long drives before too. So that wouldn't bother me. Auto dimming is okay also, but do you not have completely lit highways in Belgium anyway? So how much use would it actually be? Do you find yourself constantly blinded from behind? I know I don't and if I did, I could just manually adjust the mirror. On the other hand, as you say, big bits of plastic where the pro nav screen would fill it, and the business just doesn't. Everything else aside, that is a HUGE part of the reason I went for the pro nav. In fact, there is very little other reason for me. It's a HUGE part of the feel of the interior of the vehicle, and without the bigger screen, it just feels lacking. Plus they threw the pro nav upgrade in for free when upgrading to the 530d over the 520d for me, so coupled with the extra dealer contribution and stuff, I only pay £1 a day more for the pro nav, 3.0D and ambient lighting. Gotta be worth that. |

I would have to go with Grey since I generally don't like blue cars and would regret it every time I approached the car

had a quick look at the Blue yesterday in the garage. What a disappointment - it smells bad inside, perhaps due to smoker being the previous driver, or because the car was staying in the garage for some time(a month I think). On a positive note it has only 47k under its hood, where the Grey got something like 98k. is this really noticeable from driving perspective? both are under warranty and on the garage's maintenance. But it is the smell that bothers me, have a feeling that it might won't go away. Has anyone an experience with that? yes the screen is small and the wheel isn't sporty, but it is newer and just nice to my taste |

actually still not! still thinking the Grey should satisfy all my needs. not sure how many times this autodimming feature come handy. also lumbar support - is that really that needful? have no probs with my back(yet). it is nice to have memory for seats but again - no second driver is expected, so once set - always set. while the sport Wheel you steer everyday, and Navi screen is there all the time. actually have a fear that the smell won't go away out of the Blue. thinking to myself, sorry. first car ever - go figure!

I'd take the blue one and have it ozonated. I'll sure you can get the smell out.
