spotted 5 series GT. Beautiful angle eyes!

today, coming home form work I spotted a 535 GT in a traffic jam to my right. the car is not pretty seeing from behind "at least not to my taste" or maybe the design or concept is still too new to assimilate, don't know but this is the first bmw ever I don't like that much.
The front end however is nice and aggressive. what I couldn't take my eyes off was the new generation of angle eyes. they are similar to those third party day light angles installed buy some members here but far more powerful. they shine in daylight like a blue star. I guess these will make their way to all BM models very soon. amazing.

So I'm not crazy! Saw a 550i GT the other day and thought the exact same thing.

I hope BMW takes that approach for all their upcoming models

I would rather just have a station wagon. Why chop off part of my storage space with the GT???

I took delivery of a 550 GT last month, the first ED bound for the US. The angel eyes are cool, but the rest of the package is what makes this car phenomenal. Remember...it's a TOURING car Altogether, we drove well over 3000km during the 2 weeks we were in Europe, and I'm here to tell you that this car delivers the best ride, comfort and amenities of any vehicle I've driven under $100k. In short, it does its job very, very well. That trip would have been painful in the 1er!

Scroll down to the bottom for ED pics of our GT:

And FWIW, I read somewhere BMW recently stated that all their new vehicles post GT will have the LED angel eyes. Not sure if that meant all series or what...

Correct. The newer angel eyes are indeed of the LED variety with much brighter illumination.

The E92/93 LCI gets LEDs.

Hi ducboy,

Glad to read your happy with your GT. ("car delivered best ride, comfort and amenities of any vehicle I've driven under $100,000"). I have one on order for delivery in Australia when they are released next March. Ordering without a drive first is a risk, so its nice to read your comments. Also nice to collect car at BMW Welt. Was there a few months ago.
Drive a X5 and owned a 745Li in Australia, presently have a 335i which the GT will replace (because the 335i is too small). Just wish we could buy the car for 'under $100,000 in Australia. We are paying $170,000 with quite a few extras. The US could solve its deficit problems if the just put a bit of 'luxury tax' on cars and a reasonable tax on fuel. (Like the rest of the world). Anyway enjoy your car.
HowieR (currently in Switzerland).

Albeit the looks are a bit of a departure for BMW...this car drives like a dream. It has all the bells and whistles that a 7 has, but tons less money. I got rid of a 335 for this ride and can not be happier. Performance is great. Love this new engine, angel eyes, and the convenience of the hatch. I also like being able to sit higher, as I am a munchkin. The visibility is much nicer than the 335's or 550 we had.
In short...I love this 550 GT.
