CF Interior Swap out - Anyone done?
Anyone done this or seen these parts installed? I have the Black Wood finish but am thinking the CF interior would be a nice touch and sort of complement and contrast against my black leather finish. Wondered if anyone had done this yet in their car? I searched around and am unclear if BMW has an OEM retrofit one can order. Ebay has a few vendors that look of chinese origin so would question fitment too.
Seems as if this would be an easy mod and swap out since these parts should be just pop out and plug in for the most part as they are trim pieces. Any thoughts or experiences? http://www.ebay.com/itm/110993157840...84.m1423.l2649

For $500 and considering it is coming from China....you are going to get what you pay for. Quality good-fitting carbon fiber pieces would be a lot more expensive.
Especially with how vinyl wrapping has been perfected over the last 2-3 years.....you'd be a sucker to buy actual carbon fiber anything for the prices you would have to pay. Get some quality 3M vinyl...have your dealer remove the parts you want done.....have someone wrap the pieces who is good at what they do....have the dealer re-install. I'd be surprised if it would cost more than $200-300 for this.....labor included. |

I doubt the interior pieces are hard to wrap.....just about anyone could do them I'm sure. IMHO, I just wouldn't want someone taking the pieces off and reinstalling who haven't actually done that on a F10. That is why I think it's better to have a dealer do that.
When you start wrapping the entire exterior of a car or other tricky parts is when you really need to make sure the person is an expert in terms of the wrap itself. |

I had enough material but cut it wrong and the weave was not the same direction so I didn't complete the console. Quote:

If you want real carbon fiber get these at a 1/3 of the dealer price.

If you can't find people in Seattle who can do it, maybe try shipping your interior trims to other states. I don't think shipping is that expensive (compared to how much you'd be spending for real CF interior trims)

If it helps with your budgeting for this project, I'd be interested in buying the black wood trim that you take off your car if it is not damaged in the process.
