2011 535i Front door .pdf
Does anybody have the BMW front door pdf for removal or replacement of passenger grab handle and drivers switch panel???
Part numbers 51 41 7 225 852 51 41 7 225 873 The rubber has completely gone gooey on me and BMWNA called it a normal wear and tear issue not covered by my extended platinum warranty. Then the dealer quoted me $179. for the parts and $283 per door to replace them. smh... Got the parts shipped to me for $118. and want to do it myself. Attached are the parts I'm looking to replace, the pdf would be helpful to point out any hidden screws I may not see... |

I would check out Bavsound's video of how to remove the door panel. I am not totally positive how to remove the specific part of the trim but hopefully this will help you:

Thanks Takumi... I've watched this video a couple of times trying to see if I could find the screw points as he disassembles the door. I'm pretty sure its gonna be pretty straight forward once I get the panel off... just trying to mitigate the oops breakage.

I just did the driver's side in my 2012 535i and it was easy and straightforward mostly --- but I was unable to get it out all the way. Got the door off and the pull handle 95% out but it would just not come out the rest of the way at the bottom corner part (i.e. the end closest to the rear seats). Something was holding it but I could not find. I will give it another go on another weekend.

That's what I'm worried about going into this. BMW disassembly instructions/ pdf would be greatly appreciated and helpful. |

BTW, when reviewing the BavSound video notice the snap in clips around edge of door on panel inside. At least 2 of the clips are missing the black rubber bushing in this video (quite possible they were stuck to door). Keep an eye out for this, otherwise water may leak to interior after reassembly. Regarding the replacement trim OP is looking to replace, take a look at the replacement parts and it should be obvious where the attachment points are. In the case of the grab handle it should have attachment screws. Sometimes the factory installed trim parts (probably not the ones you're trying to replace) are melted in place. Replacements may require clips to lock into place. Check www.realoem.com for details.

[QUOTE=claykin;20646867]As the BavSound video recommends NEVER use metal tools on the interior trim. Get yourself a trim removal kit. Several options on Amazon and the plastic is very durable. Read reviews to help avoid junk.
As long as you use STAINLESS STEEL flat spatula with round eges, it will not damage leather or plastic trim. BECAUSE IT IS SMOOTH AS HELL, that is the key, better than plastic. |
