AFE Stage 2 CAI

I've been looking around and I can't find any solid reviews. I'm assuming not too many people have the AFE when you can get the BMS for half the price.
Does anyone have any experience with this intake and how does the AFE compare to BMS in terms of sound and performance?

Aftermarket intakes are for sound only. They give no power increase at all. Manufacturers spend a lot of money desining the best, most efficient air intake system.

aFe intake for 535i F10 https://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=987089

I have afe intake... not sure how accurate torque act. Clutch nm on the mhd logs are but you could see how much higher it went up... only change was the intake

Almost 100 torque from an intake seems pretty steep. But overall I feel the general consensus is that the only benefit is the enclosed air filter.

There is NO WAY a "cold air intake" (your car already has one) alone will add that much power. Here's a test; will they GUARANTEE those numbers or will they sap UP TO those numbers. Zero qualifies as UP TO.

yup! this has been discussed many times. but it's his money and if he wants to spend $500 for the intake by all means!

i also did the K&N drop in filter. does it work? who knows but at least it's still in an enclosed system

Those dyno results posted by aFe are worthless. Look at the dates. Stock run and Stage 2 run are a bit more than 2 months apart. Why would they not run them back to back? Hm...

I did an AFE 5R drop-in filter and the car is nice and healthy on MHD S2+

I listened to my friend's F10 with the aFe intake and to be honest I couldn't hear much of a difference. I think it might be due to how long the intake plumbing is, and so it kills the induction sound quite a bit.

The intake sound really doesn't manifest itself until WOT; or at the very least 1/2+.

there's four Youtubers who posted the AFE install and all sound stock still afterwards. even when they test drove they feel a bit of power gains but you can tell they're face doesn't really show it

I noticed this too that a few were randomly putting the same intake around the same time like wth??? lol

You know I'd love to see either Inline Motorsports or Thic Garage do back to back dynos. Both of those guys in particular have 1- stock intake, 2- BMS intake, and 3- aFe intake. They're all quick easy swaps that can be done within an hour's dyno time right there on the rollers

EDIT- After posting this I get on IG and Thic Garage is uploading an intake comparison video today 4pm ET. So lets see what he does!

Haha I was about to tell you I got the same info from IG too. Let's see if there's any gains and if it's worth the $500 yet alone $275 used which is the cheapest I've seen it sold for

Ok thanks then please don't give false info here... I have the afe intake and you can't hear any difference in sound at WOT or 1/2 throttle
