Just back from the dealer, although it is Sunday you can walk around and still look at the cars. They had a delivery on Friday, new 550 and two new 535. The 550 had HUD and for sure the extended black panel. The two 535's did not have HUD and did not have the new panel. It was completely blacked out. Looked good.

Tires on both the M Sports had the Goodyear LS2.

The mystery was not "who gets the panel with extended contents"; rather, it was "what does panel with extended contents" mean. IAC, that mystery has apparently been solved; a USA poster on another Board took a picture of the instrument panel on his 550i equipped with HUD and it appears that the panel does indeed "black out" when off.

I saw those photos and indeed, the panel I saw today on a 550 with M sport equipped with HUD was for sure "blacked out".

Full black panel display is not yet standard in Canada. I just visited dealer lot to see newest 535 and 550M delivered. 550M had HUD and FBP. 535 had white gauges and standard panel. Those were week 8s according to vins.

Sounds like exactly what I saw today. The blackout panel did look good on the 550 M sport with HUD. I have one on order, 3rd week of May is what the dealer is telling me for arrival. I think the only thing I am not sure of yet is whether or not the HUD will be the full color version.

Fellow Canucks,

My recollection of the Canadian bulletin is that all 5-series produced from week 9 forward will have extended panel. Did any of you read differently? I don't think 535 vs 550 or m-sport vs non m-sport has anything to do with it. My guess is that some of the week 8 builds got it but that it's only guaranteed from week 9 built cars.

Kayman - did you buy from Budds? I bought from BMW Autohaus in Thornhill.

Yes Jeremy I bought from Budds. Pick it up Tuesday. Sight unseen so maybe I will get a nice surprise but nothing but HUD on lot from last 2 deliveries has FBP and upgraded display.

My experience is the same,only ones I have seen with the FBP also have HUD. I guess we will find out for sure soon.

Any news on whether the HUD is the full color version? I seem to recall the Canadian bulletin from BMW stating that all March production HUDS would be color - but a post on bimmerfest reveals that at least one March production car in the states is NOT color.

Week 9 (March) builds with HUD are in fact color, in Canada anyway. Not sure about US.

Paul can you confirm this based on personal experience - have you seen it? If yes, then that's great - and a bit strange that Canadians would get an options that Americans aren't getting.

I took delivery of my car yesterday. I can confirm that week 12 build US spec has black out instrument panel with white numbering during the day and orange at night. It also has the full color panel. Its getting detailed right now but should be able to get pictures of it posted soon.

And sadly I can confirm that a week 8 build without HUD did not come with atleast the upgraded display. Still happy with car.

Funny thing, I was at the swissvax center and was looking over my car last night and took a picture of the tires so I can do some research on them but the picture I took didnt come out well, now I can look into them! I noticed they are made in Italy. Think mine were Michelin Primacy HP...?

I take it from your reply you know that they are good tires.

Lucky you with Michelins mine came with Goodyear LS2. I am wondering if this is cause of X drive factor now determining who is 'lucky' or not.

Are the Michelin's much better than the Goodyear? I thought I was getting the Goodyears, but I have the Michelin Primacy's HP ZP

Extended black panel gives some problems with late low sunlight. Reflexion makes impossible to reed speed.
Does anyone has the same problem ?
