Help w/ identifying a strange piece of metal above LF door lock actuator

Hello all, I changed my F10 550i LF lock actuator yesterday and noticed this strange piece of metal dangling while installing the new lock actuator. Unfortunately it fell off where it was attached to before I can take a closer look. Anyone know? The door is working properly w/ the new lock actuator so not sure what this piece is for. TIA.

Maybe it got left behind from the assembly line when the car was built. Can't think of anything else since the door is working properly.

Is there any info on the other side that may be the 11 digit BMW part number (or the last 7 digit of the 11 digit BMW part nbr)?

Doesn’t appear to be any part that looks like what you posted in the diagram for the door lock:

No nothing. Yeah, I looked up that diagram also just to be safe before I the door panel back. Looks like some kind of wrench left behind from the assembly line it's my guess.

It was attached with the hole end of the rod w/ the fins end hanging down freely.

I thought it was this piece. The end does look like it. Not sure what it's purpose is if it doesn't stay fixed in one place.

Good call…the circled item in the pics below looks a lot like the part the OP was asking about…which looks like it is attached to item #1 in the parts diagram and part #10 may be involved with it on the other end:

Hard to imagine it holds part #10 when it was just dangling loosely and part #10 is actually located on the outside of the door.

It's also points to the inside of the car instead of towards part #10. The key cylinder is on the other side. It's also directly below the key cylinder.
