so after going back and forth on which filter system to get ie BMS, K&N system i decided that the BMS would just soak in engine heat, the K&N system my new strut bar would pretty much break the seal that the box is in so i decided to just get the drop in filter design. great review across any platform really after watching alot of Youtuber's reviews. just need to buy the recharge kit but i'll do that when it's time to wash this out

so just wanted to touch on the diverter valve project just because there's still not a whole lot of info about them for the F10 platform and just wanted to give some tips on what i had to do and the issues that came along the way. first things first the Go Fast Bits diverter valve you actually still retain and use the OEM housing but you end up replacing the internal valve which comes with all that you see here. this supposedly over the OEM per manufacturer diverter valve improves performance and reliability. Exclusive pilot activation system allows HIGHER boostpressure. The end result is sharper throttle response, lightning-fast valve actuation, and the ability to hold as much boost as you can throw at it.

The TurboSmart actually replaces the whole OEM diverter valve unit. because it's a dual it does both plumb vents back into the air intake and also into the atmosphere. the percentage from my research shows 50\50.

here you can see the side by side comparison

first things first was the car needs to be lifted. give yourself enough clearance to move around more easily. here's about how high mine was

first thing was to remove the under belly pan. than you will need to loosen the sway bar brackets just enough so that the sway bar will drop down and be somewhat out of your way. next was disconnect the water pump from the attached bracket. this was a total of 3 torx bolts. 2 at the bottom and one at the top. now the top was easier to get to if you remove the wheel well fender lining on the passenger side like so

from there you can see the torx bolt actually covered up with a line in front of it

all you have to do is get back underneath and reach over the water pump until you can feel that line and just pull up as it's attached to a clip. now you can easily see the torx bolt

than after that was removed i than removed the water pump bracket itself to give me more room. i used a bungee chord to pull the water pump towards the wheel well to give me room to the diverter valve. you will see clearly what it will take to get to the 3 allen bolts.

Note:
now the issue i want to address is the OEM diverter valve housing allows you to access the 3 allen bolts at all 3 connections somewhat easy except the top 3rd bolt. using ball end extended allen heads along with universal joint socket adaptors along with various extensions will makes this easier to get to working the limited space at hand. the great thing about the ball end allens is that you don't have to be straight on the bolt to remove as you can be off angle and still be able to turn and unscrew the allen bolt

the issue i ran into was installing the new TurboSmart diverter valve because it's much larger which doesn't allow you to pre screw the supplied allen bolts back into place from a straight on angle if that makes sense? Using black tape to hold the new allen bolt to the extended allen helped but because you're coming in from an angle and you're trying to insert the bolt without cross threading them because of that angle you're in. so don't use an impact gun on this part until you got the bolt somewhat screwed in by hand first so you don't accidently cross thread it. once you do get a few turns by hand than you can use an impact gun to tighten the bolt down. so it took alot of time, effort and all the patience in the world. But at the same time it didn't help with the little work space that was given. I spent a good 5 hours doing this including putting everything back.

so if you guys have any questions feel free to PM me or comment here

you can hear the TurboSmart during the revs

I did the drop in K&N filter about a month ago. Seemed to make the most sense, since I decided all other intakes would just heak-soak, like how you're thinking. Throttle response is a bit better and slight increase in noise from the intake, but that's it. My car is still completely stock

Nice! yup...took me awhile to finally get an intake as you can see i did everything else minus the tune. i really was gonna get the K&N filter system as i felt it at least had a sealed box it was gonna sit in vs the BMS. but after i installed the strut bar i knew the sealed box for the K&N would be compromised. i probably won't hear any noises from the intake since my exhaust is already loud lol. i just want the engine to breathe better

Really nice clean built. 1 thing i would like to add, your steering wheel turned out okay, but this job isn't a good idea to diy it. I would just let someone one else do it, who specialise in this area. Specially if you want to have a custom steering wheel, with fancy leathers and stitching. Other then that, really good job.

alright fellows the time has come to dump the garbage Harbor Freight DA i've been using for the last 3 years to something of more quality! i bring you Chemical Guy's Torq 15mm long-throw random orbital polisher!

the HF would just burn through pads with long usage. i've even tried the recommended Lake Country backing plate to help alleviate the heat build up but that helped pro long the time but eventually would end up burning out. so this year i made it a point to finally buy a proper DA polisher.

what i will do different this year is after doing a paint correction i will actually ceramic coat the paint and see what the hype is all about. so Chemical Guy's ceramic coating never sold me so i ended up buying Adam's UV Ceramic Paint Coating kit from Adam's Polishing. kit comes complete with the following:

1- 50ml UV Paint Coating Bottle

1- 4oz Ceramic Boost

1- 4oz Surface Prep

2- Surface Prep Towels

2- Removal Towels

2- Micro Silk Applicators

1- Pair of Gloves

what's cool is the ceramic coating glows under UV Light
The UV Ceramic Glow Technology allows you to see where the coating has been applied which is gonna help tremendously to prevent going over the same section by accident

than for after washes i'll be using Chemical Guy's
Carbon Flex Vitalize Quick Detail Spray & Sealant Ceramic Coating Booster

i'll post pictures of the process when i start

Do you have much road rash? I've been holding off on any type of ceramic coating as I have more road rash than I'd like to admit. I do have a Dr Colorchip kit but haven't really had the incentive to go out to my garage and use it

i have some here and there but i think in the long run it's going to protect the paint. i won't have to be doing minor paint corrections every years since you can only do so many before you actually hit the base coat. and i will need to do a better job at washing the car but the problem is really with black paint that sometimes it's just unavoidable. but with this ceramic coating i've been hearing for the last couple of years with users that they've been having much better luck being swirl free with a ceramic coating. so i'mma give it a try and let people know throughout the year how it goes for me. also being a garage queen has to help vs having the car sit outside in the elements. gonna also ceramic coat my wheels since they said this product can cover 3 SUV's. i'll do 2 coats. shelf life i've heard but don't quote me on this is only a few months? i'll have to confirm that
