My mom is in the process of trading in her 2011 550i and has received a very good deal on both the new 2014 550i m-sport and her trade in, but we recently ran in to one single hiccup - the color.

Her trade in is Dark graphite and she loves the color, especially after I've gone at it with some Klasse AIO. Her DD is an X3 in carbon black and she likes that a lot too, especially in the bright sunlight where the color properties truly shine (no pun intended).

She wanted something different than DG but didn't want two vehicles in the came color (CB) so I suggested Azurite black and showed her some BMW pics and videos of it and she really liked it. Problem is the sales rep sent me a note today that to get that color, we would be looking at a July 2014 delivery.

So yeah. Monkey wrench. I know this is all subjective as the color choice is ultimately her preference, but to those that have Azurite black, is the color really worth the extra wait?

Can't comment on color, but the fact that your mother has a 550i and is getting another is very cool!

She wants the same options that she has on her current car, so that means it will be a special order car anyway. The nightvision has kept her car safe on more than one occasion during the fall/winter season as we have a good number of deer around us.

Yep! Her only complaint ever was the steering was a bit on the heavy side. When I read that the 2014 F10's moved to electric steering, she went for a test drive and that was the end of her '11. We just can't believe an exterior color choice would push an ~8 week build time to near 6 months.

Apparently the start date for builds wanting Azurite Black is not until July 2014 so 8 weeks after that is the earliest you can get a new F10 in that color.

We are switching to Imperial blue.
