Cup holder cover stuck

The cover on my cup holder does not open automatically anymore when pressing on it. I need to press on the back to open. Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix?

Mine got stuck once or twice, but started working again... I know it's not a great answer!

See if something has slipped into the cracks inside the drink holder wells. If you watch as the holder closes, it has an accordion-like section that allows the bottom to be stationary but the lid to move down.

Just reviving this one, I had a similar thing when I first got my car last year.

In the end I popped the top cover off and with a small screwdriver I scraped the insides of the channel that the mechanism moves in (it's a bit like that of a ball-point pen, click on click off). Can't really describe it any better than that.

There were some small plastic tabs (presumably from the mould) that were causing it to stick every now and then. Been perfect since.
