Does anyone know if this can be disabled? I have a Lexus LS 460 and the dealer was able to disable the warning chime upon request.I know it might sound unsafe to do this but they did,I do wear my seat belt most of the time but sometimes I just take a ride down the road and dont want to put it on, I feel free without it,was wondering if we can maybe disable it through the idrive or through the dealer,Thanks

you "technically" can, but dealer won't just do it for you.

first, you'd have to change your car's option code. 845 is Acoustic seat belt warning. remove this, and you won't get the chime anymore but dealer won't remove this for you.

if you can clear first step, you can take the car to the dealer and ask for software update. again, BMW won't do software update unless you replace a control module but some dealers will do it upon request, or at least charge you labor+fee. if you can't find a dealer that will update software for you, you'd be stuck again.

Listen there are more than one reasons why a person may need to take out that annoying chime, i race on the track and i have added racing seat belts and i have no need for the original seat belt, my makeshift solution is that i got space buckle and just installed it but i rather shut of the computer premaritally. My in my audi rs4 I am able to easily get into the computer and shut it off and its great because its permanent solution because the car also has racing seats...

and this is like the dvd in motion, people try all noble and stuff... you pay for the car you should be able to do what u will with it.. period end of story. you crash, you die, u kill, thats ur problem..

Hey, putting on a seat belt shouldn't not be a problem for any reason. Think about it. Click it or ticket! Look out for the OTHER guy!

just get a dummy seat belt clip, have that plugged in all the time and you are good to go.

Like other members said,we pay 60k plus for a car we should be able to do and choose what ever we want with them,I want the seatbelt warning chime removed! Can't bring the law on on this because it's only a money maker for them they can care less if we kill ourselves, if that's the case take cigarettes off the shelves and stop selling motorcycles

Why would you want to watch a DVD/Movie while driving ?. It’s bad enough people using Mobile/Cell phones while driving. In most European countries it’s illegal to use one unless it’s hands free. On the question of seatbelts it’s there to protect you. What happens if somebody crashes into you and you’re not wearing your belt. First of all you’re breaking the law and second the Insurance company will probably argue that you contributed to your injuries by not wearing your belt and reduce the amount of compensation payable as a result. Ask anyone who has ended up in a wheelchair as a result of not wearing their belt if they regret it. I think you know what the answer would be. Belt up and save lives.

First off you have to understand that some folks have a death wish and others don't give a damn about their fellow man. Don't do what is for the common good of all. That's to easy

You can find an individual in your area that can do coding on your car. The dealer won't do it. Just look on your local BMW forums and you're likely to find someone that can do it.
