2TB vs. 2TE when coding and retrofitting pre-LCI?
Hi all:
I'm putting together the pieces to retrofit my pre-LCI 535xi with an LCI M-Sport wheel with paddles. It requires the small airbag, same as M5/M6 but the wheel has black stitching instead of tri-colour, as far as I know. From the factory my vehicle has heated wheel, no LDW or assistance, and no paddles. The vehicle has 205 (I think) and not 2TB. I'm looking to add paddles and keep heat. When looking at realoem, the options and parts look a little different than starting with a pre-LCI wheel. I can see that there are wiring harnesses and control modules separately for 2TE ("auto with paddles") and 2TB ("sport AT" which has paddles). I can understand that there may be differences between 2TE and 2TB, but I don't understand why it requires different steering wheel electronics. I want to be sure that a/ I get the right parts and b/ I code correctly after installation. Should I buy 2TB parts and still code 2TB, or would a better practice be 2TE? Any advice here? Thanks |

Perhaps I'm misremembering that all required was adding 2TB to the VO and the paddles would work (since all 2TB cars came with paddles pre-LCI)? I'm expecting that I should just go the 2TB route when ordering harness/controller and coding, but not sure. |

So folks: regardless of coding and activating the paddles, I still need to choose an LCI steering wheel control module, and 2TE has a different module than 2TB in realoem.
Is the 2TB module the way to go on a pre-LCI 205 car? |

Is 2TB the sport mode/comfort mode settings? Did you install the rocker switch. I have one but don't know exactly where to begin with installing and I'd rather have someone else do the coding

It's ALL in the coding; no hardware change at all. |

Cool but my 535xi doesn't even have the rocker switch, I did buy one from ebay but I don't want to mess with the coding myself.

I thought all 535's came with the switch, just below the traction control switch. What does your console look like? |

I'm also thinking about an "M" wheel with paddles in my 2014 535. What I didn't realize is that Sport+ is just coding (if u have the rocker switch). That would really add to the happiness!

Yeah I was hoping to find someone nearby to code this for me. I don't really want to mess with coding myself

I'm still considering doing it, even though it will pretty much just be a control input for MHD and XHP.
