N55 Hp and Tq Specs

Ok so I know this has been discussed before, but I was looking at the Specs of the Jaguar XF. With the 3.0 Supercharged V6 it has posted time of 5.7 0-60, same as the 535i with the same ZF transmission (haven't checked the gear ratios) and roughly the same weight. Now the XF is advertised having 340 hp and 332 Ft-lbs Tq. So is it safe to assume that the 535i has roughly 340ish HP and 332ish Ft-lbs Tq? Just wondering

You can't draw any conclusions about peak torque or peak power whatsoever from a limited comparison of acceleration. Torque curve, gearing, aero, traction off the line are all influential.

However on most of the Youtube acceleration vids posted of the F10 535i it seems like the 0-60mph time is more in the neighbourhood of 6,1-6,4sec. Just 0,2-0,4sec faster than the 528i/530i N53 (6-cyl).

Comparing Youtube videos of the 535i with the 528i (3l N53) from 0-200km/h shows that both use around 24,5sec

Strangely the 535i doesn't seem to be any quicker than the (european) 528i/530i with the N53 engine...

The 528i N20 (4-cyl) takes around 32,8sec from 0-200km/h. Around 8sec more than the 6cyl 528i, even though it's just as quick to 100km/h...

The N52/N53 has a really strong top end. I remember driving a 2011 528i with the 240 hp N52 engine. It feels like a dog up to about 4000 rpm, then it wakes up a little, then, as you start to approach the redline, it really wakes up, start screaming like a banshee and pulls really hard. Wrong engine for this type of car though.

See this thread I started over on Bimmerfest about this issue:

Quote:
This is a follow up to the other thread that discussed how underrated (if any) the hp and tq are on the 535i.

I bit the bullet and paid $12 for the NxGTR sim software. You can read about the software here: http://www.nxgtrsim.com

I wanted to see if the 8 speed transmission made as big of a difference as I thought it would when compared against the 6 speed of other vehicles used to guess the 535i's true hp.

It turns out, the 8 speed makes a bigger difference than I thought.

I basically inputted all of the information I knew about the 535i automatic, my weight of 185 pounds, and ran it. The results were very much inline with actual reported track times from actual 535i owners.

Here are the results:

Time to Speed
0-30 mph: 1.873
0-60 mph: 5.424
0-100 mph: 13.83
0-200 kmh: 22.85

Time to Distance
0-100 m: 5.887 @ 63.2 mph
1/8 Mile: 8.997 @ 81 mph
1/4 Mile: 13.94 @ 100.4 mph
0-1 KM: 25.46 @ 129.5 mph

Top Speed
172.93 @ 96.92 s

At the end of the day, while horsepower is cool, it is not everything.

I've attached screen shots of the settings I plugged into the software. Not shown in any of these screen shots is my 185 pound weight, which was used in the simulation. Please let me know if you see any errors in what I plugged in. I believe I was accurate.

There are people getting 100 trap with the 535i but the bottom line is that it probably still only has 300 horse and 300 torques.

Don't know about the N52 engine (US only?). The vids I have seen have all been euro spec 528i and they have the N53 engine. But that is still a NA engine and obviously have some of the same characteristics as the N52. That is the advantage of the 535i, it has more low end grunt.

But, I like the characteristics of my N53 3l engined F10 And the Remus quad exhaust really makes the engine sing beautifully, both inside and outside

N53 is a newer version of the N52. Unlike the N52, it has direct injection, but not Valvetronic (due to space limitations).
