F10's with DHP - ride height question

Hi all,

I recently got a 550xi with DHP and I feel that its riding a little high judging by the gap in the wheel arches, especially at the front. Has any one else noticed this? Does the suspension settle in?

Thanks.

It might settle 1/8 inch or so. Beyond that you'll need to change the springs, which is a very common mod.

The xDrive rides 10mm higher than the non-M RWD car, whether or not it is an M-Sport model. The non-M RWD car rides 10mm higher than the M-Sport RWD car - so your car might be 20mm higher than another F10 you've seen.

Truly, the M-Sport package on the F10 is a bunch of ground effects, a steering wheel, and about 20 "///M" emblems.

704 suspension is not just ground effects. Msport with 704 gives a totally different driving experience over the standard/non Msport.

Cannot stress "totally different" enough, 100% in agreement

But you don't get that suspension with xdrive. I believe that is the point he was making. Once you get xdrive and lose that suspension, the rest is true... Regarding the suspension difference, I believe the xdrive is the same height as the standard, non sport suspension, not higher. It's the same standard suspension. So it should be 10mm difference from m sport suspension, not 20.

I would be more curious to see what people with xdrive and DHP feel compared to xdrive without it. On my F30, people insist DHP makes a big difference, particularly since on that too you lose the lower, stiffer suspension with xdrive. I have DHP, but never really drove one without it. But after driving a 535 with xdrive and no DHP, I have to wonder if DHP really stiffens it up much (via active dampers only, no stiffer springs) compared to standard suspension, no DHP.

Yeah, I was talking about xDrive cars, and I didn't say so in my post. Good catch.

Thanks all for the all the input. I should have been clearer in my earlier post. I was wondering more on F10's that have xDrive and MSport - does anyone feel there is a difference in ride height between cars with and without DHP?

DHP does not affect ride height, no. The line (ex m sport gives you sport suspension, lower ride height and stiffer springs) and with or without xdrive (which takes that sport suspension away) affect ride height, as they dictate whether or not you have the sport suspension and its lower ride height and stiffer springs (ie, m sport gives it to you, but xdrive takes it away). DHP does not. DHP certainly affects handling and body roll, and gives you the ability to adjust the stiffness (active dampers), but to my knowledge, no impact on ride height.

I have the DHP but its on a Non-M RWD version. Same ride height as the other F10's.
I believe the 704 suspension package is the lowest OEM they have. Not sure if it was offered in 2011 ( my car). DHP is awesome but I want to bring it down a bit to make it look like an "Ole Skool" 5 msport . (aka e39, e60, blah blah blah)
