Aluminum Hexagon Trim

I am considering trading my Dark Wood trim for the Aluminum Hexagon trim. I thought the Hexagon trim was maybe more durable than the wood, but after looking at it closer, I'm thinking that this may not be the case.

What would you do? I have black interior.

I have never had the aluminum, but I like the look of the dark wood better.

I would get the dark wood, especially with the black interior.

I have anthracite interior with Black Dakota leather. I think it looks nice and you still retain some aluminum trim. My car is new though so I expect to see scratching as time goes on so if you are sensitive it it, you might want to pick a lighter trim colour.

In my experience the first thing people do when they get inside my car is feel the Aluminum Hexagon trim.

Go with the aluminum hex! I have a black interior and it simply looks awesome! I get more compliments on it than any other treatment I've had on a BMW. In my eye, the wood trim looks like plastic.

Agreed, I hated all of the pictures And samples of the hex until I sat in a car with it. Needless to say I am now driving that very car. Looks fabulous and rich. The wood is nice but the aluminum takes it up a notch.

Wow! you guys have changed my mind. I'll have to find a car with aluminum trim to look at before I order.

I had anthracite originally in my car, I swapped with a fellow forum member for their aluminum hex, the hex holds up real well, does not scratch easily, where as the anthracite had all kinds of light scratches in the gloss finish.

I'm just the opposite -- had the Alum Hex on my 2011 535i and went back to the wood on my 2014 535d. I love the look of both -- wood a little classier, alum a little sportier.

If you do get the Alum Hex, one thing I found is that in the summer if you park where you're in direct sunlight, it gets VERY hot -- my wife leaned her arm up against it the first year I had the car and she had a burn mark on her arm. I've never had that happen with wood trim, so be careful of that.
