The 5 series steering is the real issue. Lack of road sensitivity is a real killer.

yea. seriously. so glad they came to their senses.. i just hate that comfort access is not a stand alone option. why should i have to spend 4k more to get that along with a bunch of other crap.

yea. compared to my e90, i hate it. it artificially loads when cornering making it too heavy. and then on the highway in a straight line, its just too numb. but.. that makes it great for long trips, super comfortable!

The 3 looks so huge now it seems like little point having a 5... Parked side by side they look almost twin like with the 5 being the big brother... I still got love for the 5 though because it stands up to the competition against the Audi A6, Jaguar XF and Mercedes E class.

I thought the same thing about the 3 looking like a 5 when I first saw them. I am still not a fan of the nose of the newer models.

+1

The modern line was not modern... I envisaged it to be something like Audi's Technik trim level with a lot of technology included as standard... How wrong I was!

Hellelujah brother!

3 of my last 4 cars have been BMW's and a large part of the appeal was the relatively simple options. Now it is too complicated, more like the specs you see buying a pick-up truck.

I guess the biggest concern is the extra money you have to spend to get the handling one could get from any older model BMW. I am leaning heavily towards the LEXUS GS350 FSport. One option package and you get everything you need, most importantly a naturally aspirated V6!

I actually ended up going to a 2014 GS350 F Sport. I did a short term lease for 24 months to try it out. no regrets so far. The steering feel of the Lexus (in sport + mode) is far better then the 3 and 5 series. It drives great, the ride is a lot stiffer then I expected, not your grandmas slush bucket any more. Plus, for the same payment of a near base line 528i, I'm getting a fully loaded F-Sport with a 6 cylinder engine! Option for option - blind spot monitor, premium stereo, keyless access and start, heated/ventilated seats, leather, NAV, etc. if I would have priced out a comparable 5 series it would cost 11k more. I really loved my last e92, but as far as my budget and what kind of car I got for the money, the Lexus made more sense. 0 down, 0 drive off was the deal breaker for me. At the end of my Lexus lease, I will go and see what BMW has to offer at that time, but for now I'm real happy with my decision.

I can't keep track of how many BMW's I have owned. An endless love affair. Even with models that had major issues. Still overall loyal to the brand.

Everyone is bringing up the size if the 5 being so close to the 3. Has anyone notices how much closer the 7 is to the 5?

I have owned 3,5,7, X and M series and the 5 has to be my favorite car (excluding the E60 which I also Owned)

My E90 was a great car and so was my E92 M3. A blast to drive and very sporty (properly equipped and modified) but the 5 still has a lot of class and luxury and still sporty.

You never drove an F30 it seems. When it will drown you out in wind and tire noise, you'll cry for your F10

But *NOT* if the F10 5 series is your FIRST BMW you ever had, and if you were a Mercedes-Benz owner for the last 18 years.

I *LOVE* driving this car, and so much I have racked up almost 28k on it and 100% of it is pleasure driving too! (reired!)

"My* concern is if I manage to blow out or destroy a "run flat" tire - feels like a risk after driving cars for 47 years all with a spare tire on board.

What I'd LOVE to do really, I think is get a new "refreshed" 535i in 2 years time. Go get it on Euro delivery, and see the factory in Dingolfing, then wring it out on the Autobahn for a couple of weeks....

its getting a little outdated. I loved my F10 but M3 is just different. The interior is almost the same size.

Re: Euro Delivery: DO IT!

I did it almost exactly three years ago when I got my 550i. Visited the factories in Munich and Dingolfing, plus did a couple of laps on the Nürburgring. Back and forth across Germany, I had the cruise control set well above 100 MPH. The last night I had the car, I headed out of Munich to an unlimited area and buried the pedal in the carpet to an indicated 160 MPH. And I had my then-81-year-old father along for all of it -- the 'Ring, and the top-speed cruise included. Great experience!

No more Matte wood trim. Anthracite comes from cheaper models.
