Pulled The Trigger on a 550i x-Drive
Ordered a 2014 550ix yesterday which should be arriving in mid-September. I have until Monday to make any changes. Here's what I got:
Glacier Silver Black Dakota Interior Hex Aluminum Trim M Sport Executive Pkg. Dynamic Handling Pkg. Lighting Pkg. Cold Weather Pkg. Side & Top View Cameras Did I miss anything? The 550i x comes standard with a lot of things that are additional in other lines (multi-contour seats, Harman-Kardon stereo, backup camera, etc.). |

Already included, as is navigation, soft-close doors, ceramic control iDrive, etc. A lot of what were once options are now included in packages or as standard equipment on this particular model.

For me HUD and ventilated seats are a must.

The HUD is included but I didn't think about the seats. I'll need to look into that! Basically, I don't want to be in a position six months from now wishing I had gotten this or that option. I did that with my 535 and that's why I'm selling it and moving on to the 550. Well…that and the additional 145 HP!

Just called the dealer and added the Luxury Seating package which includes the perforated and ventilated seats as well as the Active Front Seats (something I'll probably never use).
Thanks xMRV for the suggestion! |

I would highly recommend the Bang & Olufsen sound system ... I heard one in the 2014 550i that I saw @ BMW USA in Woodcliff Lakes a few weeks ago, and it is amazing ... blows away the Premium sound system in my 2011 F10. I am planning on placing an order in a month or so for November delivery of my 550xi, and I am definitely getting this as an option.
I plan to order as follows: Glacier Sliver Metallic Mocha Nappa Leather Anthracite Wood Trim M-Sport Line Cold Weather Package Driver Assistance Plus Package Dynamic Handling Package Executive Package Bang & Olufsen Sound System Lighting Package |

Would love to add the B&O system, but just can't bring myself around to laying out $3700 for it. Besides, after many years of subjecting my ears to hard rock at high volume in an enclosed area, I'm not sure I would really appreciate it!

I'd take the M package which includes the aero kit and subtle badging. Also I have the Sports Transmission too along with the Driver's Assistance Package. Finally IF you really want to unleash the car and your dealer supports it have them at least flash your car to Stage 2 and add a Dinan Performance Exhaust. At 500 hp and 560 torque your car will really move and still be nice and comfortable around town. Best of both worlds of the luxury sport sedan category.

I would exchange glacier for Moonstone individual paint. It's almost like glacier but with a lot of extra depth to it. It's really something different between all the regular silver colored cars :-)

i would get the alpine white, it looks best hands down with the msport package. Easy to maintain. Easy to fill up rock chips with touch up paint. Easy to color match God forbid there is accident or scratches and body works needs to be done.
Lastly it looks AWESOME in the sun and in the night. |
