Armrest HDD?

friends
i am using F10 (525D) 6 Cyl. there is no USB for hard disk in glovebox, there is only a USB port in armrest compartment, i was using ipod classic 160GB with Y Cable. now planned to put a 500GB Hard Disk in armrest, i formatted the HDD in NTFS format, copied few songs to test and connected to the USB port, but its not showing me in the screen, in external devices its showing me not connected or something like that (dont remember). if someone knows the issue please help me, i can change the HDD format whichever the car system need.
Thanks

I have a couple TB Western Digital drives that I without issue plugged into center console usb. I will check the formatting of them, though I think they are NTFS.
For music files, they work on factory settings. For some video files, you need to do some coding.

I do know that both bluetooth software updates and Navigation Map Software updates recommend a FAT32-formatting.

I checked and my TB HDD are NTFS. I get play from all files within folders from music (*.wma, *.mp3, *.flac, etc) to videos (*.divx, *.mp4, *.mpeg, *.avi, etc). They also work on flash drive in either NTFS or FAT32.
