Dakota leather losing depth
Is it normal for the leather in the dakota leather seats to smoothen out over time? The leather on the right inner side of the driver's seat is losing its depth and I was wondering if this is normal for a car with approximately 12,000 km/8,000 mi. Is this wearing of the leather surface too quick in your opinion?

I wasn't totally clear. The leather is smoothening out on the vertical right side support of the seat (thorax level).

I have cinnamon Dakota leather multi contour seats with 15,000 miles on my car and the seats look like brand new. So unless your wearing something that's abrasive, your seat shouldn't be doing that.

If the leather on just one panel appears different from the adjacent panels that indicates that the leather is defective. It should be a simple matter for the panel to be replaced under warranty.
Dakota leather is embossed, but the embossing should not smooth out unless that particular piece of leather was not manufactured properly. |

Fortunately, BMW accepted my complaint immediately and without any debate. They are replacing that panel under warranty.
