Got a chance to get an extended drive in 2012 528, impressions
I was cosidering a 202 E350 sport 4matic , very nice seats, comfy but not as sporty as bmw and their 7 speed is not that fast with slow upshifts and shift action is a little soft. GS- f sport awd handles very well, sounds good, , but do not like the looks , driver seat too high and does not feel as solid as germans sedans ( subjective but i felt like that)
test drove 535 xi m and 528 xi m. To my surprise the 528 2.0 motor was very responsive just like in the 328 and probaly due to fast shifting 8 speed. The 8 speeds upshifts are little firm which i like and loved the paddle . The 528 m sport really handled well esp in sport due to may be 50:50 weight . It felt lighter over 535, The 2012 528 xi is about 250 lbs less than 535 xi and fun to drive and i am seriously considering 528xi as imo it was more fun then 535xi What do you think of the below spec for 528Xi, about 63k msrp ( may lease it ). I need the awd Alpine White$0 oyester white Dakota Leather$0 Anthracite Wood Trim$0 Cold Weather Package M Sport Package Premium Package Premium Sound Package Technology Package Sport automatic transmission with shift paddles Power rear sunshade with rear manual side window shades BMW Apps not sure about driver asistance package ( i only like the blond spot feature in that package ) but not sure if it is worth 1400 Last edited by why13; 04-30-2012 at 07:19 AM.. |

Its a nice car...but many might say that the engine experience with the in line Six is unique. One of the things I liked most about my old 3 was the in line six.
If you drop the cosmetic m sport, and tech package...you should easily be able to spec a 535xi. Could even drop the sound package Either way, nice vehicles all 'round. |

I say go for it. I'm looking at the 528ix as well. In fact i will probably order it today or tomorrow. I came away from driving the 528 very surprised. I drove it after driving the 535 and while i was expecting it to be not contest i found the 528 to be just as much fun to drive the way i drive (legal mostly). I then have spent the last month trying to convince myself that i need the 6 and haven't been able to. In the end the 528's slightly lower price, better residuals and elimination of the 19's (Yikes!) decided for me.
PS - Our cars will be almost identical (AW, MSport etc.) although i have to order mine cause i really want the HUD. |

why13 -Since you are optioning it up, may I suggest Comfort Access. Its one of those "i didnt know I couldn't live without it" features Also why X drive? Where do you live? How much snow, etc.? Last edited by BigKutta; 04-30-2012 at 01:41 PM.. |

Skip driver assistance. Since your'e getting an xDrive, you won't have the self park anyway, so all you'll get is LDW, BSW and auto high beams. Not worth the $$. I have it and that's based on 15k miles of using it. I find LDW useless. BSW is somewhat useful, but gives you a lot of false positives.

Thanks for the feedback on Blind spot etc, will skip it
on the 5 , U only need the key to lock and unlock , once inside the car u can just start the car with the push botton with key in pocket $1000 seems excessive on 525 for just locking and unlocking without touching the key Still debating if Nappa is worth it over dakota, with Nappa do you get the arm rest and side of the dorrs also in Nappa? |

I would opt out Power rear sunshade with rear manual side window shades, and just get your windows tinted at 20%. I live in Kansas City, we get about 4-5 snow storms per winter. I haven't had the need for AWD. I didn't even bother putting on winter tires this past winter, my 535i got around just fine (using common sense, of course).
Unless you live on the mountain, there's not need to for AWD on the other 95% of the year. If extra winter traction is needed, get a set of good winter tires. I had an e90 RWD, it rolled around like a tank with winter tires. xDrive = More weight + More Parts to Break. It's not a true BMW experience. Want superior AWD? Get an Audi. Want a reliable boring car? Get a Lexus. Want bling and chrome? Get a Benz. Want a fun car? Get a BMW non-xDrive (very fun to drift). |

I have Cinnamon Brown Dakota Leather and it looks best with aluminium hexagon trim! I will post pictures when my new set of wheels arrives! Wood is boring and looks cheap imo!
