Yup apparently the turbo side is the same! Any competent shop should be able to do this easily.

Alpina Turbos perfectly mounted/matched without a hick up, new seals and all.

One comment "WOW".

I cant wait to Dyno. I think we are close to OEM Stock M5 numbers.

Got lucky. Forum member BMWM.D. had them listed for $500 plus shipping.
Deal of the century. I did pre-purchase homework, indeed Alpina Turbos are of a different rating. Check the link below;

https://garrett.honeywell.com/produc...icle_year=2011.

Now compare to stock 550i OEM Turbos;

Damn 500 bucks is a steal.. Which part number is it for the alpina turbos ? Was there any modification needed or just a simple swap ?

What other mods do you have on your car? I'm assuming just throwing these on a stock 550 with no tune won't do anything?

Check my post on this thread and other. Fenixmike summed it all. No need for a tune for a bigger Turbo to be more efficient for same mods. The car is actually producing more power with more ease.

Just a few questions for you. How much did it cost you to install the turbos? what kind of hardware did you need (new lines, hoses, gaskets, etc). Just checked Pure's website and looks like their Stage 1 N63 turbos have been released. Looking forward to your dyno!

seems that Pure takes your old turbos and upgrades them, puts a better wheel, machines them and what not.

http://www.pureturbos.com/store/bmw-...rbos-1123.html

"BMW N63 Pure Upgrade Turbos. The only true turbo upgrade set available for these cars. Upgraded billet compressor wheel, heavy duty large pad upgrade thrust, CNC machined, and High Speed VSR balanced"

$2,750 And thats just for the upgrade not including installation, if you take it to an euro shop they might be able to do the same work with install for around the same price, I already thought about this.

Terry at BMS kept saying that the Stage 2 maxed out our stock turbos and the tu got better gains because it had bigger turbos. At $2750 bucks for the Pure Stage 1 turbos, I would jump on that for more efficient turbos and Pure has a proven track record.

747flyboy got his Alpina turbos installed. Just wanted to know what extra hardware he bought and what labor cost him.

Hello all,

Just seal replacements considering the outer hardware is identical. Labor was 6 hours at approximately $100/hour. Total $700.
No other complications

Good news. Easier most likely because of the top mount....

Just think of the next better component an OEM has to offer if you were to ever upgrade. Short answer, YES and not to mention CEL and other complications. A perfect fit since Turbos exhaust outlets of both 550i and the M5 have the same 22mm outlet diameter. You may have to shave off a bit one of the mounting M5 DP's since it slightly protrudes on the area of the starter motor.
Where exactly does the DP require shaving?

Hardware

Down Pipes do not require any shaving. Down Pipes mounts require a bit of shaving. Hope this clarifies.

I think I remember seeing that thread. I thought the conclusion was that the ebay pipes were just poor quality and thus a bad fit up. Do you have a link? I couldn't find it.
