Are you sure she didn’t hit you on purpose
I don’t blame you for getting piss off, I would be pissed too if I were you. The thing is, your wife probably knows how much of a car guys you are and things like this really really bother you, did you at least apologize a million times? I hate careless drivers, no matter who is it. |

Dude, you got lucky. A few millimeters to the left and you would have been forking out $4k for 2 door panels. That was a clean hit.
Luckily my wife drives like a grandma and could not possibly reverse down the driveway, even at 2 mph! |

Thanks for all of your input guys. It was hard for me to focus being so pissed off and furious about this so this have calmed me down a bit. I really didn't care about the $$$ it was going to cost to fix it I just couldn't believe I have to repair a brand new car already after 1 month of ownership when I drove my old e60 550i for 4 years without any freaking accidents. It did make matter worse when my wife's Highlander had back up camera and I even installed fish eye mirror on the side mirrors to help see blind spots but she said she doesn't use them. Maybe this is a good excuse to trade the 550i in for the new M5 when it comes out? Hhmmmm.

The blame can be shared here - s*&t happens - replace the door and it will be like new again. Just be thankful my sister didn't catch you cheating She DEMOLISHED my brother in law's prized 1956 T-Bird by repeatedly ramming it with her car on all sides.

Now if I did that I would have nothing to complaint about.

So I decided to sit in the Highlander where she usually parks and see if I believe that she said couldn't see me. If I turn my and just look through the back window it is higher and yes she may not have been able to see the car since the driveway does has slight down slope but if I also look at both side mirrors along with the back up camera I can see everything that's behind me to the ground. Unbelievable. This whole mess could have been easily avoided because she won't listen when I tell her you need to start using the mirrors and back up camera years ago and that's what infuriate me as we speak.

They will know as the new door will not have a vin number on it. As soon as they see that, they gonna offer 15k below fair value.... Happened to a family member of mine.

bb3,
I agree.. but there's not much chance of the dealer looking at the door jams if the customer is coming back a month after getting a 550 now wanting an M5.

For making a complete analysis of this mishap we need to know the point of view of the wife.
For starters did she ever congratulate you with the new black car in the last month? |

I think the best solution goes something like this:
RumbleJay: "Honey, I loved the F10 so much. That's why I want you to have it. Enjoy it!" Wife: "Thanks! That's awefully nice of you! You can have my car instead!" RumbleJay: "Oh, that's great! In fact, I already traded in your car for my new M5/650i Gran Coupe........"

Take it easy man! I know its easy to say but at the end of the day, would you rather take the side of a machine or your wife . Good that your F10 has no feelings.Your wife does. Trust me ,Any damage to our cars tears me up and I get mad at my wife when she doesn't take good care of them .But at the end of the day be glad that neither of you were hurt/neither were u involved in an accident with a strangers car[repairs would get expensive].
Its good that you are blowing off the steam. Good things out of the incident 1. Your wife will be extra nice to you [for a while] 2.She will respect you better if you forgive her with a hug, I am sure she might be very guilty 3.No one was hurt 4. The damage could be much worse 5.Neither of you hit a strangers car[saves you a lot of headache in repairs and avoids involvement of law enforcement] 6.You guys will have a nice story . 7. You cannot escape some kind of damage to your car.Its inevitable. 8.I am pretty sure your wife will always use her cameras and rear view mirrors. And a small advice, don't rub this incident on her too much, it might bite you back.Once , my wife began to b***h about my speeding when i got a ticket on a 12hr long trip. I kept quite and when she took over the wheel at the next break on the trip.....[within 5 minutes of taking over the wheel] she get s a ticket!! I kept silent but was Last edited by luvthestck; 06-01-2012 at 07:14 AM.. |
