MAX A/C Not Available Below Freezing, but why?

Just learned that MAX A/C is not available when it’s below freezing out.

I often use this feature when leaving the gym – even in the winter – which I find preferable to opening the window, but never realized this.

My car just had its battery replaced, and its HVAC control panel was replaced this past summer; I wonder if new programming is to account.

Anyway, anyone know the reason why this feature is disabled below freezing?

Thanks.

Maybe if it's below 0 deg C then it's to protect the evaporator from damage?

^^^^

Both protection from icing and the evaporator working temperature. It will be something in the range of 2 - 8C, with a default sensor value of -2C.

Clearly we can't have the MAX feature (part of A/C function) when the evaporator is already below the working range.

Doesn't stop us using the maximum fan speed (out of auto), if we need a massive blast of cold air.

Thanks, Gentlemen!

So it's disabled to prevent evaporator damage.
