N63 CCP & Engine Cooling

Just had my N63 CCP completed (2012, 550iX). The car runs just fine. However, before the N63 CCP being done, when I switched off the engine the cooling fan ran for a period of time (5 minutes?) to continue cooling the hot engine, now it does not. Is this normal?

Yes. And if you read some of the articles about why the CCP was issued, this is part of it. The engine and turbos get too hot and the fan has to work overtime even after shutoff to cool it down to avoid (more) damage. This is what causes the extra drain on the battery which is why some N63 cars will need more frequent battery replacements.

Check the main CCP article, on the last page or two we linked some good reads about the whole situation.

I had my CCP done and the fan runs for a good long while after the car is cut off, they replaced everything but the timing chain as it had not stretched. So my understanding is the car is not suppose to run the fan for a while after the car is turned off after the CCP is done?

Doesnt make sense to me, if the car needs to cool off then the fans should be on right?

They changed some of the timings, but the fan will still run if its required.
All depends on what the turbos need to cool down enough.

So dont worry

Makes me think its a DSC sensor problem rather than an engine problem.

Sensor feeding wrong info to ECU which then activates traction control and cuts engine power.

or it could also be your differential going

if its the sensor like hes saying, try disabling the traction completely off, and see if it helps

That is why I'm installing the larger air to water intercoolers from Dinan. Expensive but probably should have been larger from the start.

Not everything. You should really read what is not covered in the extended warranty.

check out the pdf on what is not covered. They do cover most major components though.

Doesn't really work that way... the intercoolers cool the air charge into the motor from the turbos.. not the other way around. The turbo's are still going to hit their same temperatures regardless of what's inline on the cold side.

Also read up on the stock intercoolers as many tuners can vouch the factory units working well with even high boost levels. I think larger heat exchangers would be beneficial over larger air/water cores.
