How do I check if I have TMPS sensors in my F10 wheels

Can anyone tell if there's an easy way to know if your car has TPMS sensors in the wheels?

Look at the valve stem, if it's metal you will have sensors, if they're plastic you don't.

Ahhh. I have plastic stems.

I have an option in iDrive to assess the typre pressure but it doesn't give any indication of the pressure.

Thanks

I don't know what year the change to place, but the earlier tpms system didn't have sensors in the wheels, it worked by comparing the rotational speed of each wheel against the others and was part of the ABS system. If tyre pressure dropped, the rolling radius of that tyre would change, and as a consequence the rotational speed, which would trip the tpms. Either your car had that system which is now faulty, or your wheels have been swapped but the sensors haven't been replaced.

Thanks for the swift reply.

Is there a way to see if the system has gone faulty? I recently purchased the car so I can't say anything about the wheels being replaced.

No prob, although I'm not sure why you have the option in iDrive if you don't have the sensors, maybe the iDrive has been replaced with a later one.
