HDD into the USB Slot

Regarding the USB slot, I know that the Prof Media can pick up music files from a plugged in USB stick. Can it pick up files from a plugged in external HDD? Has anyone tried this?

I haven't tried but I'd be surprised if the USB provides enough power for a hdd unless it was an ssd, but can't say from personal experience

I use a Western Digital Passport 250gb HDD. No problems.
