Just wondering once you guys wash your car what products do you use to wax and what sealant do you use?

Currently driving a Honda Accord with Metallic Grey Paint and the best combo for me in terms of finish is Autoglym Super Resin Polish as the "glaze" to fill in the swirls and then Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection as my Sealant. The AG Shampoo has wax in it and so keeps the Extra Gloss Protection topped up. I also sometimes use Turtlewax High Gloss wax it's a "liquid wax" but gives your car a crazy shine so might be worth having a look at.

I have purchased lots of Dodo juice products (born to be mild, purple haze) for my car.....and I haven't even got the car yet.

Autoglym SRP and EGP are a cracking combination and easily available.

Though I think some of the offerings from GTechniq take a lot of beating on the sealant front. Something like C2v3 is such an easy product to use and last a decent amount of time too.

Collinite 845 (its called a wax but more akin to a sealant) is another favourite of mine, can be great on alloys too, making like easier to clean them.

I'm with Beancounter on the Collinite 845 for waxing - it's a very unassuming product, but the results are fantastic, I really can't recommend enough.

In anticipation of my F10 arriving I've also ordered some Poorboy's Black Hole glaze which is ideal for black cars and not only prevents swirl marks but also helps fill any surface marking with clay particles. It really adds depth to dark coloured cars (there's a version for light colours too).

I've never got around to using black hole, but have heard good reports......I may have to order a bottle.......well you can never have too many detailing/cleaning products

Black hole is essential on a black car IMO. My first F10 was Jet Black - never again....

All paint is fairly soft now since the lesbians forced us to stop using cellulose and acrylic paints and forced us to use water-based shit but the BMW Jet Black is so soft it's a joke. It's possible to scratch the car just by looking at it too hard.

I know what you mean. Also these water based paints leave the lovely 'orange peel' effect too that we have all come to live with on our BM's

I think I shall grab a bottle of BH now.......just don't tell Mrs bean I've bought more car products

I use Poorboys Black Hole and it did a great job on my previous Black Sapphire Metallic paint, not used it on my new car yet (Sophisto Grey).

I use Collinite 476 wax, easy to apply and buff lasts really well and also use it on the wheels as it makes them a lot easier to keep clean.

I will have to ask my dealer, as the only time my car gets cleaned is when it's in for a service.

I really can't understand why people enjoy cleaning cars. Such a tedious task.

Really don't understand why water based paint can be blamed for the finish being soft when I've yet to come across a water based clear coat yet, same argument applies to orange peel which again has nothing to do with the paint it's all about the lacquer.
With regard to a good sealant the collinite is very well regarded and grechniq are just modern day alchemists. But the black hole as good as product as it is is a glaze rather than a sealant.
One to consider is autobrite abyss, just used it in my car and it really is quite amazing

Agree binary, BH will need topping and is a temporary 'fix' to swirled paint instead of an abrasive correction.

I didn't know that the clear coat wasn't water based, so that's something learned. begs the question why do we continually get the orange peel effect then?

I've not really tried any Autobrite products, they never really grabbed my attention, although others wax lyrical about them.

Because Jet Black (non-metallic) does not have a clearcoat

You're correct it does have a clear coat regardless of whether it is metallic, xyrllic or solid.
If it didn't have and they used water based paint it would have a matt finish

The reason why you get orange peel is that the clear coat isn't completely flat surface normally as a result of not enough thinners in the lacquer
