2014 528i m sport vs 528i xdrive m sport

Hi,

i know for the xdrive you possibly lose the sports suspension over the RWD. does anyone have more details about the differences in the m sport package between xdrive and RWD 528?

thanks,

The only difference as far as I can work out is that you will lose the MSport suspension on the AWD but you could compensate by getting the DHP (Dynamic Handling Package). Otherwise they're identical. All the cosmetic changes remain the same for the interior as well as exterior.

Good luck OP!

I'm afraid full DHP is unavailable with 528xi -EDC only (which I have, and they work great).

thanks for the prompt response. ya dynamic handling is hard to fine and 2014 528 m sports are becoming a rare breed really quickly.

i think i would prefer the m sport suspension. wanted xdrive for extra protection during winter but i guess you all would have a workaround for that as well? right?

I live in an area of Canada that experiences ice and snow for 7 months of the year so BMW Canada doesn't sell non X Drive models (F10) in Canada. I like the feel of a RWD car but after driving my 535 x Drive for a winter, I feel the trade off is well worth it. If you have occasional snow in your area, snow tires would get you by just fine. If you get allot of snow, X drive might be worth the trade off in feel and handling without a sport suspension.

thanks for the input Grover432. i do get only a few inches of snow every year. i was thinking of future proofing my purchase as i may move locations eventually but i think for now i am getting a better deal on the non xdrive so will have to go that route. lets see.

I had a 1999 540iA and put snow tires and it went find in the snow even without all of the traction and stability control systems we have on the current cars. A good winter set will take you a long way. Having said that, when it is slippery, there is nothing like stepping on the gas and moving from a stop sign at the same rate you do in the summer. Trade offs ...

NO. 528's don't get the M Sport Suspension, even RWD. Only 535's and 550's get it.

BUT, I've read of one poster who was able to special-order the M Sport suspension on their RWD 528i M Sport, for $390.

OK... i just ordered a 335dxi. The all wheel drive 5 series cars retain the hydraulic steering which is SO much better than the new electric system. The problem is on the BMWUSA site you can not get the dynamic handling package on the 528xi which is a big disappointment because with the old style steering and the dynamic handling setup the 2015 5er is one of the best cars you can buy at any price.
