suspension?

When I unlock my 535i there is this pssssss sound that happens, as if it lowers or something. Does anyone else have this? or know what it is?

Is your car the touring version (F11)? It has self levelling air suspension on the rear - it could be that.

Yeah that is most likely if its the F11. We used to have a (god awful) Shitroen C5 that had self levelling air suspension gubbins and that did a similar thing. Of course, being a Citroen, it only did it sometimes!

I have always wondered what this sound is. I've heard it on my '05 545i, my '08 550i, my current '11 550i, and my wife's 335i so it can't be the self-leveling suspension as all these cars don't have that feature.

It's the sound of your high pressure fuel pump, prepping your fuel system to the appropriate PSI when you get near the car with your key (or unlocking it).

I have an F10 and E70, so I'm very familiar.
