2011 F10 to 2014 F10 Questions
Hi Boys,
I'm thinking of getting the exact same car but I have a couple questions regarding this update. For reference my 2011 was built after 9/10. I have the Tech/Nav/M Sport/Executive seats Is the HK as good or better then my current system ? It's probably the best stock system I've heard and I rather not splurge 5-6k on B&O. I'll go see the car soon but you know it's kind of awkward to blast the music for more then a few seconds at the dealership. Also does anyone know if the screen larger. I can't seem to find exact specs. Thanks in advance, |

You know, the upgraded stereo in my "12 X5 is simply amazing. Not sure why they didn't stick with a system that sounds so good.
The HK sounds good, not great. But my personal thought is the B&O is silly expensive and not worth the price. |

B&O is not that great! I'd rather choose Burmester because it sounds better imo. I've tested both audio systems. Since Burmester is only available in Porsche cars, I'd recommend Bavsound. Decent upgrade in $1k price range.

I rather not change anything. I absolutely love the balance and sound of the Hifi (I think that's what it's called) in my 11 F10.
The sound system / screen / exec seats are the reasons I am getting the exact same car again lol. My friend has an A7. Crap seats/sound system/small screen and ugly shifter. Test drove the new E class, horrible seats, plastic plastic, garbage HK. I really hope this 2014 HK is good Do you guys know who made the Hifi for 2011/2012 ? |

When I checking out the LCI 535i with the HK system at the dealer, I put in my trusty audio system test CD, The Hotel California track from the Eagles album Hell Freezes Over, the HK's bass is not nearly as powerful as my 2012 premium sound system. The HK system overall does not sound as powerful even though they are both suppose to be 600 watts. From what I understand, the old premium sound system use a Swedish Dirac processing, Harman-marked amps (Class D i think) and german Eton loudspeakers.

Obviously I need to really try it for myself. But how much worse (or is it just the volume?) would you say ? |

The Hifi/exec seats/great screen are a cheap Premium package away. And the Hifi sounds amazing. In the A7 to upgrade the sound system it's only B&O at 6K. No better seats available until you get to S7. Screen stays the same (IMO ugly). I'm sure you can upgrade the shifter via aftermarket. And it's pretty similar for the E Class. At least in a 535 with just a few options you have best in class. That's just my opinion though. Trust me I am not one to stick with the car twice.. but everything in the same price range is just so disappointing interior wise. I do love that supercharged Audi 3.0 |

I had settled for a 12 CPO 530ix
but we're not able to find one I wanted, so ended up with A7 TFSI with B&O multi contour seats and a good tech package. I would not switch back now, love the supercharger and overall quality. Audi Garage is a huge improvement, and nightvision is usable in the instrument cluster. |

Haha. I also use that same rendition of Hotel California to check out audio systems. Also use Time, from Pink Floyd's Delicate Sound of Thunder. I have a 2013 535 that came with the HK system. I was a little disappointed in the HK. After changing out the speakers to the Bavsound system, the first track I played was Hotel California. I was blown away . The increase in bass volume and clarity is stunning. The sound is full spectrum, tight bass and drums, full and accurate mids and highs. I used some of their sound deadening material during installation, and honestly the car sounds like an awesome set of headphones. I've had plenty of pretty good car audio systems, this one beats them all. No comparison. I'm sure the B&O system sounds great too. But the HK plus Bavsound speakers is about half the price. Installation is no big deal. Did it myself, didn't break anything, everything fit back together easily. No rattles (but the volume has been up a little lately!). |
