I'd like to hear opinions on the replacement aluminum valve covers for the N55. Anybody had long-term good results? There seems to be a fair number of people having good luck with the cheap ($99 and up) plastic covers from China. Recommendations please! I'm tired of smelling burning oil even with A/C in Recirc mode!

I used the cheap plastic one from amazon and have been very happy. I wasnt willing to spend the extra money on the aluminum one. I cant find any info on the PCV in the aluminum one so not sure if it is replaceable or not. Till then, im good with my $99 special

I know it wasn't specifically asked, but...

I have been happy with Elring from Rockauto. ~$200 CAD, came with gasket and bolts preinstalled, and is the OE brand.

So, that's around 45% more than mystery brand from China, but still under $150 USD. Considering it includes all of the CCV equipment I consider it still money well spent at that price point.

My original VC and CCV went 13 years, and even at that there was no sign of any issue with the VC or CCV itself, just the gasket. I would be delighted by another 13 trouble free years.

Stick with the stock plastic one from FCP Euro. No reason to get rid of the plastic ones when there isn’t an issue with them to begin with. The PCV internals are poorly made on the chinese aluminum ones. Had a few people run into issues, which is something you do not want since its a lengthy job to swap out.
