It was totally unexpected. They gave me a desk so I could work and while I was sitting there Steve walked up, extended his hand and said "hi I'm Steve." I run a business and I certainly do my best to make sure all of our customers and potential customers know they have access to all key decision makers. I was totally surprised and impressed. Being a drag racer I enjoyed the shop tour that Steve took me on. The whole experience was a lot more than I expected. Steve went out of his way to explain everything they do and how they R&D and manufacturer all of their performance parts.

Hope this helps....

As for what is done to his 550i it has Stage 4 tuning, exhaust, intercoolers, full suspension, Brembo BBK in the front, Dinan lightweight rims, prototype Cold air intake and larger turbos. The top end charge of the larger turbos are impressive. It pulled very hard up top.

Interesting on the top end pull. I was hoping for more low end boost... it's hard to imagine more than I have now. Up to about 50mph, its feels like a 2 stroke dirtbike when i get up in the rpm. With the traction issues I have with stage 4, I wonder if the LSD would be better than going with any more power.

I got my ASS HANDED to me by a clk63 black series the other day off the line. After that, I'm back to wanting more again...

In hindsight I should have just gone M5 but you live and learn...

I think your idea of the LSD makes sense for applying power. I have issues with traction as well and it's amazing how hard the car pulls. Regarding the larger turbos its typical for them to have less bottom end grunt but really shine up top. Steve and I were talking about how much harder it pulled in the upper RPM band and that's when he told me it had larger turbos.

got scheduled with dealer to install this next Saturday with stage 5 software. Quote given was about $3600 with installation and software.

Breakdown

Dinan Intake/Strut Tower - $2699
Software upgrade from S3 to S5 - $400 plus .5Hr labor
6 Hours labor to install intake

I am skipping the intercooler hardware upgrade.

X2 except the intercoolers I've had on back order just shipped. The intake should arrive late next week so I can install along with the intercoolers. They should really help inlet temps fight the Florida heat. Looking forward to S5

I was wondering if anyone knew if the new intake was worth any points towards the Dinan "badge"? When added to the cart it shows "0".

Thanks!

That price isn't bad, my dealer wanted over a grand in labor to do the intercoolers....

just ask your dealer to get you a dinan badge, if you have s1-s5 plus the intake, it warrants getting a badge. I asked for one and supposedly they have one for me.

Im guessing this is why.....

"The stock air inlet is fully functional to provide four intakes into the engine for maximum airflow."

The new intake is in addition to the stock setup.....

good news - intake & intercoolers arrived at Reeves Motorsports today...
bad news - 2 days ago I started getting the 'fuel system malfunction' message. Looks like next week to get S4 & S5 installed.

Looks great but you didn't do the intercoolers also? Man I would have done that along the intakes to complete the look/upgrade my man! But they do look good. Let us know how they work out for you! Any issues? Noticeable sounds from the intake?

I only have another 11 months left on the lease so another $4000 would of been much. Im actually very happy with the car now. The upper end of all the gears really pulls hard now. The strut tower also makes the car feel a little more solid.... no issues or sounds from the intake btw

Not much seat time yet, but initial impressions of S4/S5 is very good. Low end feels more responsive and instantaneous. The overall quality, fit and finish on these is awesome. Its refreshing to see well designed aftermarket parts. Since picking up the car from Reeves Motorsports all driving has been around town, so I'll reserve my review of the top end performance for this weekend
