About IPod IOS4/5 artwork show on 2011 5 Series with Y-cable

The artwork works once,but no more response, is anyone works well? especially for up dating to IOS5

By "works once," do you mean that when you add new songs to your phone, the artwork doesn't add sometimes? If so, you can solve that by renaming your phone to force a reload of the cache.

Bluetooth will need to be paired again.

Why dont you just buy a usb memory and put all music on that, plug in to car and forget it. It will work with mp3 and content bought from itunes. Then use bluetooth for talk and internet radio, spotify whatver.

Have you tried using a normal iPod/iPhone lead - (i.e. the usual one supplied by Apple?) instead of the Y cable. I thought that the Y cable was just for E60s and does not apply to F10/F11s?

from other treads - search on art work- you can only get the art work via the apple cable and not through the Y cable, you also lose some of the sound quality when using the white apple cable, apparently this down to Y cable using 2 connections at the same time usb and aux.
Did anyone manage to get the artwork with the Y cable, my understanding a new version of the Y cable will fix this.

The sound is better over the apple cable than the Y cable. The apple USB cable sends the sound digitally to the car, where it is decoded. The Y cable has the phone decode it and send it as an analog signal, which is subject to noise, etc.

I know of no credible information that suggests that Y cable sound is better.
You don't want the Y cable.

I see no difference, maybe down the my play list, but why do BMW bother with the Y cable i.e. a usb + aux in one as to just offering the apple cable, in other words what's the difference between the 2 from functionality point of view? in fact will the Y cable work like the Apple one if the aux is left unplugged, I give it a go tomorrow, or you may have already the answer.
