Ipod touch 3rd generation problem
Hi
Picked up my shiny new 520D F10 last week. Plugged in my Ipod touch using the recommended BMW cable (Ģ42.00) It read my my music and allowed me to browse music. However after one day it stopped working correctly. It will not play back music. It will browse though, but no playback after selection a choice. Took it back to BMW today. A couple of salesmen tried their own Iphone and Ipod and it worked correctly. Therefore it must be my own touch. However if I select music, play it then plug into my car, then it will playback music !!! A tad annoying. Has anyone come across this yet or do I persuade my wife to get me a new Iphone for christmas. thanks |

Hi
If your car was built after September, you will have the new ComBox interface. That being the case, you just need to use a standard Apple dock cable, and not the BMW cable. You get more functionality including album artwork with the added benefit of not needing the Ģ40 special cable! Steve |

thanks guys,
I actually reset the ipod through itunes but also updated the IOS to 4.2. That seems to have done the trick. Ouch on the BMW cable front....... I already bought one.. suckered or what !I will try my own Ipod cable though and see if I get the art work. BTW the car was built in November. thanks again |

If your car was built in November then you definitely shouldn't need the Y cable.
I'd take it back for a refund and educate the dealer whilst you're there |

I currently have an E61 with USB which plays from an iPod classic using a standard iPod cable and shows all details on the idrive but wouldn't play from an iPhone. will my new F10 work the same way and will i get album art. I have had a 740d on loan and that would play from Bluetooth on the iPhone but no detail on the idrive
