Question Very Noisy fan in engine comparment with AC on

Picked up our new 2016 528I last week. I have noticed a very loud AC fan noise coming from the engine compartment. It only happens when the car has been driven for awhile. The fan noise is associated with something to do with the AC. If I turn the AC off, the noise quits. Turn the AC back on and it starts sounding like its about ready to come apart. The noise is so loud that it gets the attention of everyone close to the car. It's so embarrassing that I leave the AC off until I have pulled away from others.
I took it to the dealer, who said if something is wrong you will get a light.
Has anyone else experienced this with their AC units.

My '14 528 on a hot day with the AC running sounds like a jet engine ready for take off. I don't let it bother me anymore.

The electric cooling fan on these cars is a high output one as they lack an engine driven mechanical fan. When its moving full speed it will make quite a bit of noise, but nothing that would attract the attention of everyone around.

Simply put it should just be making wind/fan noise.

The AC compressor could be making noise as well.

There are about a million things that can go wrong and not "give you a light" The dealer just doesn't want to deal with you. If you feel something is actually wrong be persistent.

No disrespect at all intended, but you obviously haven't driven a 4 cyl F10 on a hot day with the AC on. They are ALL noisy and sound like they're about ready to take off. The grill shutters open and that sound comes out...loud...really loud. Completely different than 6 cyl 5's are and were. It's normal. His dealership wasn't lying to him.

I have driven an LCI 528i, all over town, chasing issues for a customer. I didn't notice it being much if any louder than a 535i when driven "normally" only lots of engine noise when you had to rail it to get moving because it was gutless. It was cooler around that time but I'm sure I had the AC on as I don't make a habit of rolling windows down on customer cars, zero faith in window regulators LOL.

My 535i has the electrical shutters too.

It's not so obvious as you're cruising, especially since the cabin is quiet with the windows up, and who drives with them down when it's really hot, but man when you pull into a garage on a hot day, the sound! I'll admit, I took it to the dealership when I'd first heard it and they showed me 2 other warmed up 528's sounding exactly like it. We could have had a symphony. I don't even pay attention to it anymore and its been hot as Hell here for the past few weeks

I love those active shutters because they saved a bird that flew into my grill from hitting the hot radiator on a cold day. Giving him a padded point of impact.. Poor guy would have been toasted if he flew into my 435.

Same thing occurs with my 535i, 2015. Only when the a/c is being used at a high output as compared to a lower output.

I have F10/520D with AC on full time all year round due to climate in Thailand. No fan noise could be heard though...

528 Loud fan noise when hot

2015 528xi also shows a similar issue. when the temperature is hot, and the car is pulled into the garage or even stopping in traffic, the noise will kick in and sounds like almost rattling pitch. Took it to a Denver dealership twice they said it is normal, of course the car has always been rather cold every time I got there. Still in the shop being checked.

I did go through the same situation during my first F10 moving on from a Toyota.During delivery, the FAN kicked and it was very loud when compared to other cars.
And I was and compared it with other cars on the lot which had the same loud fan.
F10 has loud fan when you compare it to other sedans.
But once you close you windows you shouldn't hear the loud fan though.

I notice once summer comes around and our AZ ambient temps are over 100 the fan is noticeably louder than the months with cooler weather. It slows down when coming to a stop so it doesn't seem as loud when you are sitting still.
