Just returned from a 780 mile trip from Scotish Boarders to South Wales. Traffic on motorways heavy but moving all the way. Average speed including town and a forrest section ( track just wider than car) came in at 65.4 MPH. Used Eco Pro all the time recording 72 MPG as my blue bonus. Brim filled at start and end of trip put in 59.8L at end this is 13.154 imperial gallons (15.79 US) works out at 59.29 MPG UK, or 49.39 MPG US, car said 62 MPG.
On my way down I recorded a total range of 1001.2 miles as I entered Wales when I added the miles done to miles the car showed as remaining range. Even at the end of the journey having covered 780 miles it still showed 165 miles remaining or 945 total, my fuel fill up confirms this as not far out as a full 70L at 59.29MPG would give a range of 965 miles. On refill car said range 954 miles, Shows what a long trip can do. Back to normal 8 mile up and down hill journey tomorrow and my normal 45MPG. |

Near 60 mpg out a big barge like the F10 is pretty impressive.
I'm looking forward to having fun with the eco pro mode when I pick my one up when I get home. To be honest though, if my average starts with a 4 I'll be over the moon... |

I've used eco pro a few times but in my normal driving I find it makes the car incredibly boring. The one tank I did use it for gave me about an extra 40 miles so I tend not bother much with it now. If I was sitting on the motorway a lot more I would probably get more use out of it.

Having seen the good side of Eco Pro to day the down side. Heavy frost and a short hilly run to work. Car managed 43MPG but at a cost. Rear window never fully defrosted lots of de iced used on front and had to use cloth to de-mist inside of the front screen. Saving 0.4 MPG over the 8 miles but with poor visibility and cooler drivers seat. No point saving fuel if you hit something. Only good point is it keeps your speed down so less likely to slip on the ice. Comfort mode and three bars set for the seat on the way home, could see, was warm and did 43MPG!

In a way I find it odd to have a button in your car that makes it more boring. But I do admit that sometimes when there's a lot of traffic I push it and just go with the flow.

Took some of the benefit away, but why make a car less usable??? Now, if only they'd allow me to choose between hydraulic steering or a slight efficiency gain... ! |
