BMW Remote for US Androids

I couldn't find any other threads with this information first off. I figured I should share this information to save some headaches.

The Google Play store doesn't allow US to download BMW Remote for some odd reason. I was able to download the app from HERE and it works without issues.

My phone is a Sprint Galaxy S3 running the factory OS 4.1.2. I just wanted to provide the apk since the Google Play store doesn't allow US users to download it.

It is not necessary to mod the phone (root it) to get this app to work. However, even after installed on a Droid updates are not possible since it didn't actually come from Google's Play Store.

I found the file shortly after buying my '13 535xDrive and emailed it to one of my Gmail accounts on my Droid ... opened the file and it installed itself. You have to enter your BMW Assist Account information and establish a 4-digit "pin" to use it.

This version permits locking/unlocking, headlight flash, horn blowing, and location on Google maps. You must have an active BMW Assist plan in place. Here's a screen shot of what it looks like on a Droid smartphone

For some reason the app doesn't take my "My BMW" credentials... Did you guys register on the ConnectedDrive portal? If so, which country did you choose?

use the e-mail address associated with your BMW Assist account

password is the password you setup with your BMW Assist account

use ALL CAPS FOR BOTH USER & PASS

Just installed and tried it out. Nothing happened when I tried to flash lights and control the locks. Maybe it's just my phone...
