asiakid, Forgestar is value for money, flow-formed and you can't beat the price.

Spend a few k more per rim you can choose many forged rims. I like Adv.1, Forged 1, HRE, DPE. Most of these rims are made to order so you have to wait. Get them from US vendors could save a bit.

For your graphite gray I suggest to get the silver, the black will look too dark and out of place. Black rim will go well with white or black cars IMO.

H&R springs could be found in many mod shops, around 3.5k installed. Or you can buy from supplier and ask any garage to do it for you. Not a difficult job.

BTW, seems like you got a pretty good deal for your car. When's the 1st registration date?

haha..wait, why do you need 2 sets? To install and see fully installed on your car? Feel free to share the wealth haha...2nd hand discount

On a serious note? Is it reasonable to go to Advan shop to just buy the wheels from there? will i need to negotiate? This is my first car in HK, so i see the shop all the time but never been. THanks. By the way, can anyone recommend a shop for H&R installation. Feel free to PM me if its not appropriate to list vendors and similar.

RC3, I just realized you answered my questions exactly. But if you don't mind, will there be big price different for Forgestar flow-formed from HK vs buying overseas? I suspect the shipping adds a significant amount.

As for the reg date, I need to check...its been around though. I suspect its one of the earlier ones. I guess it is a fair price, new 528i is 632,000 and when i talked to them, they said that they won't go below the list price (as opposed to audi, who was cutting huge amounts of their instock inventory). I guess i will take a walk to Advan since i live within walking distance.

May be mlai needs a summer set and a winter set, who knows, HK may snow eventually.

I got mine from Advan, can negotiate a bit but not too much. Good service IMO and they have many to choose. Just go check it out.

Try zillion at Hung Hum for springs, Jxnco did his there. Can't PM you as you have too few posts.

Getting the Forgestar at US will be definitely cheaper even with shipping. Try PM some of the vendors here in the forum for a quote. I did not bother because I was too lazy to do the drop from home to tire shop to install.

Don't think they give discount for the F10, I have none except for the 3% off for owning more than 2 Bimmer previously.

What options do you have? Sunroof?

haha, it seems all the 528i is standardized in terms of options so I thought all 528i's had sunroof.

I have sunroof..nothing else worth noting. It is still waiting for final checkup at BMW to make sure nothing wrong with it..then i can go over every detail out there. Thanks for the advice for the wheels and springs.

The ripped me off for 30K+ for the sunroof with FRT. One of the things you can't retrofit.

Have fun with your car, asiakid.

I don't kno what the FRT is? some light stuff?

As for the sunroof, when i talked to the dealer, they said the 632K includes that if i remembered correctly. I could be wrong. I guess i would feel better knowing that it does...but that might make u feel worse..so us not knowing for sure is probably good for both

FRT = first registration tax

I think they have a promotion now. 632k including sunroof, rear camera, auto tailgate and rear sun blinds. Good deal. I love to have the other three options but didn't let them ripped me off then. Hate the FRT

Hi Asiakid.. welcome!

RC, the newspaper says promotion is rear cam, m steering wheel, rear blinds .. but if u talked to them directly then that deal sounds a lot better. Don't think u can get a free sunroof yet .. so can feel better about that!

Although The F14 styles an variants look very nice, I have a feeling that the style is going to be very popular with owners going for after-market wheels, and thus going to be a bit common on the road. So i opt to go for slightly different wheels.

Advan is ok. But I don't think they do a good job of balancing my wheels. They did mine twice and the wheels still vibrate at highway speeds, until I got them balanced somewhere else......

Welcome to the forum AsiaKid!

I got my springs from Zillion and they did a pretty good job at it. Price was very reasonable too. They can also get you Forgestars if you want. When I asked, the price was also very reasonable. I think even cheaper than Advan. I can refer you if you want.

Or if you can wait for Mlai, he'll probably sell one of the 2 sets he ordered. Both matches your color very well. And they are both forged.

Guys,

As for BMW's promo for the 528i, a friend told me they are giving him sunroof, tailgate, rear cam, and sunblind for $632K. This is to compete with E250 as it will be getting an FRT deduction. I paid $660K before the tax increase and I only have sunroof, sunblinds, soft close doors and anthracite headliner. I really wanted the tailgate function. Sort of pisses me off

Wow, the price is falling faster than the Gov. can raise the tax. That E250 eco tax is max.stupid.
I want tailgate too .. reminded everytime i struggle closing the trunk of this 'luxury' car
If they change the 528i engine to N20 2.0Turbo +startstop .. gov will have to give to 528 as well = BIG price drop ->more for already 528 owner
Then, you are really paying to own a N52 engine!

All this talk for what great values the new ones cost will make us all feel sad

Anyways, my only real question mark was should i spend for a 535i, but once i get there, then i will say why not 550i and then so on and so forth.

I am usually not the patient type, not sure if i can wait for mlai to give up one set of his wheels. Hahaha, I will go see Advan this week and see if they have anything good in stock. If i am unlucky (or lucky depending on how we see it), they won't have it and mlai decides to sell away my perfect set

F14s are flow-formed, not forged......

Ever wonder why I just went straight for 550i Now I have the reverse buyers' remorse: maybe should have gotten the 535i

My new wheels coming late this week and will probably put them on next week. So I will be looking to ditch the F14s. But then, you have a point in that your car is the same color as mine, and the gunmetals wil get lost.

However, one thing I like is that you can never tell if the wheels are dirty Once you take delivery of your car (in fact, any BMW), you will surely know what I mean......

Frankly, I'm quite happy with the 528's engine. I just wish it had more low end torque. Going uphill, I find myself downshifting all the time. I'm sure I won't have this problem with the 535. Not sure if I'm willing to fork out $150K for this though. If I were you, I'd spend $50K for the wheels and then use the $100K for a nice and long vacation.

Wheels, yes. And tyres. But vacation? With or without the F10? You willing to part with your new family member after you just took delivery

Don't leave your F10 hanging all a lone
